Swim Stroke Analysis

Just got this done last week and it is pretty cool so I thought I'd share.  (So maybe you can learn from my mistakes!)  The funny thing is, up until the day of the swim clinic, I pretty much had no body roll in my swim stroke so I'll be toning that down quite a bit....

  •  That was very good discussion and video...out of curiousity what is your avg. normal & race 100 pace? under/over 2:00Min?

  • Last year I was roughly 1:00 per 50. (Give or take, but that's a nice round number) My HIM time (no wetsuit) was about 56 mins. (Sadly slow... That's more like a IM time!)
  •  Well you look faster.  ...I found the video/discussion very instructional...how much did it cost you?  Sorry to be nosey.

  • Kim, did anything happen during that swim (ie. prolonged treading water, etc)? typically, an athlete who can swim 2:00 / 100yds should swim a HIM much faster than 56min.
  • @Joe- No problem! Glad it was helpful! It was $50 which was a steal. It was offered in conjunction with a clinic that I did. Here's a link to the coach that offers it:

@Mike-I guess I never really did the math. I should be swimming 40:00-ish for HIM based on 2:00/100yds. I do tend to go slower in races (ironically!) to keep my breathing easy and HR low. I need to become more comfortable with swimming faster in races.... My strategy is generally start in the back and get through the swim.(Not exactly ideal for fast times!)
  • That's great that you got a video analysis. Some day I hope to do something like that also.
