Planning a Boston Meet Up...

Folks, trying to plan a Team gathering for the Boston weekend. Since I am not local I can't just pop in anytime, but I was thinking of a Friday or Saturday Dinner Date.

This would be a 7pm deal at a nice place, we'll do dinner and maybe get a few drinks before if that works for you guys.

As a back-back-back up I could do the Sunday brunch time per the usual schedule, it's just hard on the family cuz we are coming back in on Monday to cheer you guys on from Wellesley!

Please put your thoughts in this thread!!! Thanks!

Patrick

  • We are in Boston Saturday morning through Tuesday. We can meet for dinner Saturday night. That would be great.

  • I am not in town Friday or Saturday nights, but can make a Sunday brunch. I'm okay missing it though b/c my schedule is crazy that weekend, so no worries. If Sunday works for others, then awesome. I will be there. Please do post exactly where you plan to be, P& Family in Wellesley though--Center? or more towards Marathon Sports? Right or Left side (of runner going towards Boston), etc.
  • my flight arrives at 7:30pm saturday. i could join sat pm dinner late, or would be up for sunday brunch, etc.
  • P - I thought you were running Boston? Are you scratching to focus on IMTX?
  • Saturday works for me. Legal Seafood? Any recommendations? Jazzed that Coach P will be in Wellesley to cheer us on.
  • I'm making a week trip out of this adventure and am flexible. Whatever the majority decides will work for me.
  • I will also be in Boston for a week so I'm just as flexible as Bestsy...
  • oops... that extra 's' just snuck its way in there without me knowing - sorry Betsy.
  • I'll be in from Friday afternoon through Tuesday. I have a few commitments for work social outings, but I'd love to meet up with you all! Need to keep carbo loading...don't know about legal seafood???...back bay location would be easiest....i have to go to the mayor's reception on sat night....I could meet up after...but just choose what's best for most...I hope we can connect....
  • Coming in Saturday, w/ wife and daughter, in just enough time to make the 4PM Red Sox game (P, you know me as a Yanks fan so please promise silence!)  Would stretch to catch the gathering for at least a drink if the timing and location works.  Or, if weather affects the game I'd likely try to land inside Eastern Standard (restaurant near stadium)..

  • Sounds great! I'm in town Fri through Tues, so will go with majority rule!
  • I am coming in on Friday night. I will keep checking to see what you decide. i am not running the marathon. I am visiting a friend and running the 5km the day before and will be cheering you guys on probably at mile 25 by the ball park and the sign (you know which one i am talking about)
  • I think that Legal Seafoods at the PRU (see below) is the best bet. They have plenty of pasta, etc., and it's still 36 hours before your race! Given there's a sox game it could be tough to be anywhere else...or to be there at 7 as the game could be letting out. Let's say 6:30 on Saturday 4/14.

If you are COMING, please email patrick.mccrann@gmail.com by Wednesday so I can make the reservation! Plse put Boston Marathon or Legals in the subject, thanks!!!

  • Have fun all, sorry to miss it.

If you could post after the dinner any details-like if people are wearing EN attire, or if fans are going to be on the route (where exactly will  they be), if people are meeting up afterwards, etc.

Hope to meet a few of you/see you on course, but if not-good luck!!!

Will there be a tracking spreadsheet like at the IMs? I am in 10:45 wave, and last heat. Wonder if I'll ever make it into Boston?!!!

  • My clan will be on the right side of the road in Wellesley, somewhere between the Starbucks and the Talbots! Will have the girls!!!
  • Will be staying with my cousin in Cape Cod for a couple of days before the marathon, but it is not too far so I may drive in for dinner/meeting. I'll let you know by RSVP'ing you via email by Wednesday. I hope I can make it down!
  • Anyone planning on going in for the pre-race dinner on Sunday night? I've never been b/c I live here so always stayed at home. Plus, have usually picked up my number/packet on Fri or Sat. This year I am away Fri & Sat so need to go pick up my number/packet on Sunday afternoon, so thinking of staying in and grabbing someting to eat on the early side of the dinner. Let me know if anyone else is heading in for that--

  • Will be there can't wait.
  •  Hope you can make it!!!

  • I have been to the pre-race pasta dinner before and it's usually a bit crazy...but if you're going to be there Dottie..it may make it easier for you. I always try to get an early dinner close to my hotel with family...it's more low key...Have we decided a meeting time/place for the EN dinner/brunch...meeting???
