11 weeks to IMC

Started out this week coming off some hard core weekend bike rides, one with our own Jenn Edwards, total of about 150 miles. Monday was a swim/run, and since my leg was feeling a little better I decided to try a land run. (I have been unable to run for the past 7 weeks due a stress fracture) It was slow and sore, but I got it in without too much discomfort. Later on monday I felt some pain in my bad leg and decided that tuesdays run would be better off in the pool. Wednesday bike was on the stationary due to inclimate weather at 4:30am so it was 90 minutes with 50 at FTP. Tomorrow is the long run (110 minutes) and I am doing it outside, first long run since the end of April. Hopefully I wont be walking back.

  • Steve you seem to be SO smart about this injury.   Congrats on that... some folks wouldn't be able to hold back!   No doubt you will make it to the start!

My week went well and I seem to be bouncing back nicely from the big weekend!

Anyone done any OW swims yet?   My first will be Friday.   In a race.   Because I'm stupid.  :-)

  • I'll be watching your performance at the Friday Night Races and may join the group in the coming weeks. How is the water this time of year?

Today's long run (110'=12.5 miles) was slow but productive. I can definitely tell that I haven't run in 7 weeks. It was all I could do to maintain an 8:50 pace (1:30 slower than my prep for Eugene). But it was a run and that's more than I could have done a few weeks ago. If things progress like I expect them to I should be back to normal by the first couple weeks of July.
  • got your message Steve/Jenny!

Doing hacked up week in prep for HIM sun. That said week went fine, two quick short runs couple of lake swims and one so so bike. No 4/3hr sessions this weekend.

Race is a A- or B+ event and not decided whether to test fitness and aim for PR. Another day to think about it.
