Three Weeks To IMC: Bye Bye Graham
Not sure who follows this stuff.... Grahm Fraser has left Ironman Canada Foundation. The City of Penticton is holding the bag (license, fees, etc). IMC 2013 is being negotiated. May or not be managed by WTC. Registration for 2013, has not been disclosed yet pending Tue city council meeting.
Anhow, Graham looks forward to celebrating the 30th anv of this race. He owns the juinor hockey team and has residence in the valley.
That all being said, bring on the taper.....
Anyone wanting to get together for swim, coffee etc.? There has been little to no chat.
Have a safe training week folks.

Taper?! I was looking at the pla this morning wondering when the taper starts... 3x15 minutes at FTP?? I could barely muster enough energy to get through the 3rd set. Once this weekend is over I think I'll start thinking taper, I'm better off staying focused until after the long rides this weekend!!
I'd be up for getting together for a coffee and a swim... Maybe Friday morning, everyone should be on site by then. Earlier in the day is better for me as my family will likely have things they want to do as well, it is their holiday too :-) Start thowing out times, locations to meet... all I know is 'the Peach' is a hugely common spot, but prehaps meeting up ahead of time for a little caffeine jolt somewhere near the lake would be a good bet... I am not familiar enough with Penticton to suggest a spot.
Still bummed out after getting up early to watch the triathlon event this morning... can't believe Simon crashed. Would have been great to see him go out with one more medal.
Friday would work for me. I will have to double check times tho. Would it be possible to coordinate a swim? or bike? Besides the ENers, I only know a few others that will be there racing.
Yes, the 3x 15 minutes doesn't read taper much. I'm still nursing a minor strain in my right hammy so I will probably opt out of such an intense workout and just put in some solid time on the bike. I have an appointment with the bike fitter at my LBS tomorrow to see if we can tweak the fit to reduce some stress on the hammy without causing any other issues.
I'm grieving over Canada's loss to the US in soccer and Simon's crash. I also am trying to understand how and why Paula Findlay was put in that predicament. I almost cried when I watched the footage of her running, devastation exuded from her.
Yippie, week 18 in the books. Sat z4 on the bike were hard to do. Today's ABP better and loved it was short.
Nice and warm here too so that was a change for the better.
Enjoy the taper and be safe.
