  •  Amy .   Might you want to do a consult with the Core Diet folks asap?    Nutrition may be the issue.      And try caffeine gels.

  •  @ Amy. x2 what robin and others said, you may have dip in cals around then, I find I have to focus on eating at that point. BUT I always notice a mental fatiuge around mile 70-75 too.  Once I hit 80-85 miles I usually perk back-up for the home stretch.

Awesome RR#2 yesterday in Tempe with Betsy Kantor, David Ware, Will Hayes and lots of other IMAZers! We had great support for the ride. Very strong headwinds on the outbound legs. Winds were 10-12 mph steady out of NE all day, with gusts upto 25mph. Its windier out on Bee-Line Hwy than in town, but it was strong enough that lots of local riders commented on it, so hopefully that means it was the winds that slowed me down more than I expected. Also the homecoming game was at ASU, so I did mulitple loops on the Bee-line section instead of going back by the stadium each full loop, so that means I did the bee-line hill 1.5 extra times. Used my aero cover and was fine all day, steady as a rock in the winds.

    Ride: 112 moving miles (6:02), NP 165,  IF 70.4, VI 1.08

Vi was really hard to get down with stops at intersections and lights and stops for aid and I could never get to 70% ftp downhill, kept spinning out. @ 35+mph. Nutrition was perfect: 8-9 bottles of electro (lost count). 11 gels (every 30min, missed one) ~ 36oz & 450 cals an hour

Run: 6.2 miles (51:00) felt AMAZING! Good news about the wind is that its a nice cooling breeze around the lake. All in all the best I have EVER felt on a big day or RR. I could have done a lot more.

    I'm ready. BRING IT.

  • Did RR#2 on the trainer using the cycleops powerbeam virtual training. Downloaded the IMAZ course with video and ergo and rode all three laps. Went much better than RR#1. Good 6 mile run after the ride, holding exact pace!  Hope everyone else's went well! Can't wait to race!!

  • Did a swim overdistance workout today. Just swam 4500m (1:16:20) with 3800m split (1:04:15). Thank goodness for my H2O Audio ipod (and Metallica, Scorpions, Boston,  Velvet Revolver,...)

  •  Sorry I forgot to mention Will Hayes. We got lost on the course together looking for the aid station. I might have ended up in Tucson without him. ;<)</p>

  • Embarrased to report that I noticed on the RR that my joule said 'memory full'. I only got 54 minutes of data. (I'm one of those who put an 8GB card and found out the hard way that anything over 2 GB silences the joule. Have never gotten around to getting the 2GB card). It always takes me a while to figure out the technology but I have all the rides downloaded and memory clear so I am good for now. Also changed the battery in my power tap as I started see 'batthub' and don't want that dying in the next few weeks
