Have you race IMCdA before

Hi gang, I have no bites yet for Race Captain yet, but I still want you all to have a great race experience. If you have raced before at this event I would like to pick your brain on some locations that we could consider for our Thursday night team dinner, High 5's Post race meet up and I Finished The Race Breakfast Location.

I am unfamiliar with the location. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brenda - I raced there in 2010 and we had a great team dinner right downtown at some basement bistro that I can't remember. However, I'm betting that Al Truscott and Coach R probably know the name of every restaurant in the area.

I gonna be there, but its my first IM and first trip to CDA. As a result, I don't think I would make an effective captain. I am thinking I will have a lot on my mind....

Paul- Yeah I was there also... I believe the place was called the Wine Cellar. http://www.thecellarcda.com/ Does that sound right? It was nice.

I think rich met some people pre-race day at Calypsos Coffee & Creamery 116 E Lakeside Ave.

After the race we went to some brewpub, but it looks to be not there anymore. There is a burger place a street over.

Looks as if a burger place called Scruds is not too far from the finish. https://www.facebook.com/scrudsgourmetgrub?sk=wall

I wouldn't mind helping out to be the race captain. I can call a few places and see about getting things set up. I'd just need to know how many people would be comming etc. (ie the spreadsheet that we had last time I did the race where people could fill in their name and dinner guests etc). Then I can call around. I can hit Al up if the Wine cellar isn't available. I believe we did it on Thursday because the race diner was on Friday.

'08: dinner at Anthony's by the lake, about mile 17-18 of the run. We had about 19 people racing, about 15 at dinner. Place is too small for us now.

'09: catered dinner at the Chamber of Commerce, hooked up by local hommie and now K-Swiss Doode Brian Ogle. About 30+ racing.

'11: Wine Cellar, about 25 for dinner. Had 33-35 racing. Good food but the layout isn't very conducive to team-ey-ness -- separated tables, etc.

'12-13: Crickets, just under 40 racing and ~25+ at dinner. Good food and location, very good room for us and excellent service. Recommend you reach out to them.

Post-Race Beers: for the last couple years, since the CDA brewery has closed, we've been meeting at Crickets...I think. The post race stuff from race to race tends to blend together after a while .

Breakfast: the last couple years I've had to jet for a crazy early flight. Calypso's has slooowww service. Java on main is great coffee (have the Mexican mocha). But every year it's become harder and harder to wrangle people for the day after breakfast as people can be all over the map with registering for next year, buying finishers gear, travel plans, etc. Lunch might be a better option.

Season's of Coeur d'Alene (http://seasonsofcda.com) might be an ok place to try. I haven't been here since it's been Season's - it's a new restaurant from the last time I was there. It's on Lakeside Ave between 2nd and 3rd, so on the course and close to the finish area. They have a banquet area so should be able to accommodate our group with no problem. There menu sort of reminds me of the Wine Cellar, but I bet we could customize a couple of dishes since our group would be large.

My most favorite place in CDA is Capone's (http://caponespub.com - as featured on Diner's, Drive in's and Dive's!). Their CDA location could probably accommodate us, but it would be separated tables. It's a more sports bar version of Cricket's. It's on 4th, about a half-mile from downtown. I'll definitely be enjoying some Capone's pre- and for sure post-race. (It's seriously my favorite!)

Fire Artisan Pizza is my second favorite... (http://firecda.com). This might be a little too small for our group, plus it really is just artisan style pizza, so maybe not something you are looking for. But I'd suggest it for anyone needing a place for their family to eat...it's on Sherman.

Jonesy's or Jimmy's Down the Street (both on Sherman) would be a great spots for post-race breakfast. Jimmy's was another Triple D feature, and is a "made from scratch" home cooking place. Jonesy's has a banquet room, lots of items to choose from, lots of omlet/scramble options, Honey Bunches of Toast (french toast rolled in Honey Bunches of Oats cereal - yep...it's good!). Jonesy's has good lunch options too (black bean burger is great!).

    Just a few ideas....
