Big race dilemma

Hi Coach-This is my year for guaranteed entry into the NY marathon having been rejected by the lottery for the last 3 years.  Problem:  it is two weeks before AZIM, my A race.  All I ever wanted to do was run/walk, not race, the NY marathon to have fun and see the city on foot.  Is it crazy to even consider such a thing so close to AZIM?

    Hi Betsy,

    Is doing the marathon bad for IMAZ? Yep, absolutely. Will it help IMAZ in anyway? Nope, no way.

    Is it good for your goal to walk/run the race and see the city? Sure.

    Up to you decide between those two competing, at odds goals.

    Thanks for the quick reply. Of course nothing i didn't know but needed to hear it from the guy I pay to share in my misery (LOL!).
    I'm going to let that 5/24 deadline pass without ponying up my $250 to NYRRs-I've worked to hard on my swim and bike the last 5months.
