IS Plans are in-Week 1 approaching
I'm assuming all you received the IS Plans via email. Holy Crap! It looks like we're doubling and in some cases tripling our weekly training hours, luckily some of that includes swimming. I'm looking forward to dailing down the intensity in most cases but we'll still keep a fair share of intensity scattered through the week. It's real now and the next few months will get us up to speed to go the distance of IM.

Steve I am looking at just the beginner plan and it is brutal, I cannot imagine what you other guys have going on. Well I wish I could say I was ready, I have been laid up about a week with this nasty cold. I have been feeling better during the day but at night, the cough starts back up again. I might go see a doctor later today. On top of that, next week will be interesting because of the fact I am also bringing my kids down to Disneyland. I hope that I can get rid of the cold and get some of the workouts in. I am excited to start building some distance.
Funny thing is that I'll bet after 2 weeks this will feel like normal to you. HAAAA! keep saying that....it'll happen!
Besides look at it this way...some schmoes have been doing crazy volume for the last 7 months! Us, we're the smart ones, we're only doing it when it matters!!
I'm getting excited now!!! Let's get this thing going!!
Hi Folks,
Good to see everyone digging into the schedule. Please note that by doing the OS plan for as long as you could, we kept the volume as low as we could for as long as we can...but the calendar doesn't lie. I suspect many of you are in a place where May doesn't really give a crap about the fact that you're in the NE and still on your trainer. Welcome to joys of an early season IM and lessons that IMAZ peeps have been learning for years, until they changed the date of the race
. That said:
Anyway, congrats on sliding into your Big Boy/Girl Pants...time to get to work!
Olivia, no doubt you'll get through this, Ms. Tenacious. Yeah, I'm so glad we haven't been doing LSD for a 6 month build up before the race. My psyche would be totally fried!
Tom, Coaches reminded us that taking 2 weeks for transition is acceptable. You might be forced to take the 2nd week but no worries there! I hope you can drop training for a few days and just enjoy the family time with the kids. Disneyland is always magically, if you can allow yourself to be present in the moment, sort of easy to do with your kids. Absolute delight!
Interesting word choice. Rich is clearly thinking about the [under?] pants he's gonna have to fit into in Sept for Moo! Time to get to work is right, bro!
I just blocked my work calendar for these workouts. Going to ask my boss to work from home on Thursdays for the long runs. No sense in added commute time where not necessary. Will have to see where else my schedule can flex. Will be sitting down with Brian over the weekend to orient him to what our next 12 weeks are going to be like at home....i'll use some of Coach Rs points, no doubt, in the expectation setting.
thanks
I just want to make sure I'm looking in the right place for the swim drills - Swim_Clinic_PDF_2008 - Section Three : Position Progression.
For Tuesday's swim, it has us doing 2 X 50 for each of the six position progression drills. In the manual there are 10 in the list, with two of them being repeats. What am I missing here?
Thank you.
John
1. Fist
2. Half & Half
3. Fingertips
4. Climb the Ladder
5. Hand and Side
Then for the head , hip, & shoulder position stuff in the latter part of the WO I'll concentrate on the drills in the first part of the book.
Thanks Olivia,
Yes, that was throwing me for a loop, so I will follow your lead until one of the coaches point us to the error of our ways!
After being out of the water since Oct. I got winded and my upper back and shoulders weren't too happy, but I survived and tomorrow's another day!
