The new generation of Shiv / Speed Concept / Giant seems to be in peril...

And boy, oh boy, is Bjarne Riis pissed.

I've read up on that. I don't believe they should be able to change their minds after the season starts. You don't change the rules of the game after the game has started!

It's actually 2-0, they forced Contador to not ride his Shiv either.

I've always thought it strange, why the bike manufacturers worry so much about meeting UCI standards when 95% of their tri bike sales go to athletes who primary race in events which could care nothing about UCI standards. I know they do it for the Pro Tour exposure....but really...their bike sales are primarily from triathletes, not TdF cyclists.

The Shiv is a awesome bike. You know a lot of triathletes would buy it as it is currently designed. But no, Specialized will tweak the design for UCI purposes at a some cost to aero efficiency. As a triathlete, I do not care about UCI. I'd much rather have bike manufacturers be more creative in bike design for maximal aero efficiency.
