Is anyone back in the pool yet?
I haven't gotten wet since early December. I was thinking I'd wait until the end of the OS, but I've got an Olympic coming up in mid-April, so I figure I should relearn this whole swimming thing.

I jumped back in a couple of weeks ago, just for 1000 yards each time. I had to cut back on some running, so it worked out well.
It felt good, nice change of pace.

Proabably head back next week just to change it up and bit.
Last swim was early December for me. Plan to be back in the pool on a regular basis starting 3/1. Could be ugly...
Started back last week after 12 months of no swimming, drills, etc. and it is really ugly!!
I thought pool lifeguard was going to save me from myself.

Got in the pool yesterday. Did 4 laps of TI drills. Then, went to the hot tub.
I went back last week. Going to go 2x week to masters.
My last swim was in late September in the Savannah River for the Augusta 70.3 race. I have had ZERO desire to return to the pool, but plan on going 2x a week starting next Tuesday. I am not looking forward to it, but know I'll be glad I did. Our Master's program has dissolved so I will have to motivate myself to swim alone.
I'm about 14 weeks out from IM 70.3 Kansas, so no more OS for me and back in the pool. I swim with masters who just happen to be getting ready for state meet next month, in light of this they've added some 2hr workouts. Out of some inane desire to prove to myself that I am just as tough as the 'real' swimmers I was one of only a few who hung in for the full 2 hours and 4700 yards at the first practice last night. Probably won't be doing that again.
Other than scuba diving and helping my son get certified to go when on vacation in March to the Caymans I will not start the structured stuff in the pool till after the OS and back from vacation. It always seems to come back pretty quick though so no worries.
This is my version of a transition week :-).

That said, I also couldn't seem to do much more than 50-75 yards without all my pulling muscles getting tired, but that comes around fairly quickly. I'm figuring that a few weeks of balance and body position focus, and I'll be primed to start doing some real swim workouts for the first time in a long time.

I felt the same with balance. I've always been a tail dragger. For me: it might be the layer of fat that is the biggest help :-).

It was kinda cool. I'd realized that I had pretty poor posture in the water, specifically letting my chin fall forwards. This helped me get 'balanced', cuz my head was lower in the water, but breathing threw the whole thing off, and I never really felt comfortable.
This time, I made a point of really keeping my head on my neck, ears and shoulders on the same line with the spine. To achieve balance, I had to lean much further forward (finally understand the 'pressing the buoy' idea), but once I did, balance felt good, and breathing felt almost easy.

Only been in the water 2x since IM Wisconsin, but like Wicked Smart plan to get back in for drills 2x/week beginning March 1st.
I got back in the pool, and have hardly missed a beat. I probably lost some of the endurance, but I was still doing the same strokes per length as when I left off (17 per 25 yds) and I think the times were comparable. I felt really good, and I wish I'd swam more over the winter. I swam a total of 2100 yards.
Just got back into the pool as well. The first workout last week was rough. Keeing the distance really low 1500yds, just focusing on feel of water. Felt great for first 500yds or so them my arms totally went dead on me. This week the arms are already starting to get back into it. Still got a ways to go but, after all that down time im actually looking forward to swimming again.
Back in the water today. 4 months to the day since IMAZ. Tpace/100 off by about 6 secs, but stroke count is the same. I expect the time to return quickly!!
Feeling pretty good. Going to throw in a drill only w/o as a third swim w/o for the week.
Back at it for me too today. I did a little ow ocean swims on vacation last week so a little feel was coming back so I went for the 1st swim workout in the General Prep 1 workouts. Ended up with 2000 meters and really had no problems and was real happy to see my stroke count after the drills was about right on with last year at the end. My 100 times too seemed decent to me ranging in the 1:30's to 1:40's Felt good to get back to a structured swim and again I see I think I will only swim 2 times a week max all the way till race day just as i did last year.
