IMLP week 2

Well, I'm a little delinquent in setting up this week's thread.  But, I wanted to check in to see how everybody's run went this morning?

For me, it went pretty well.  I'll be downloading everything shortly, but overall, it felt pretty strong and solid.  14 miles in 1:51.  Hard to believe that a little more than a month ago, my longest run year to date had been about 1:05!

Two swims earlier this week kicked my butt!  Those sprint + endurance sessions are killer!  OTOH, I do think that I'm starting to feel a bit stronger in the water, and getting a slightly better feel for the catch, which is a huge plus.  Looking forward to a swim-only day tomorrow.

  • Sorry late to the party here folks, but life and the ToC coming has taking alot of my time.

My run has been getting stronger and stronger as the plan has progressed.  A 5K Pr a couple of weeks ago and Half Mary PR last weekend at the Indy mini.  And I decided to make this week a big run week before I left for Cali for the tour. 50 miles of running with a 17 miler this morning in 1:55:00.

Mike... I agree the swim workouts with the speed + endurance are killer but I also am starting to feel a little better in the water for the first time and through in a 15:04 for 1000 pr last week.

Well all keep working hard and I'll be back in forums when ToC trip is done.

  • Solid run today. About 15 miles in 1:50. Hit my targets and still had some snap left on the final push. Best of all I listened to a Radiolab podcast on mental endurance. Funny and interesting take on how people are able to finish extraordinary distances, including an interview with the woman who crawled to the end of that early Ironman that was featured on Wide World of Sports. Best part: talking about hallucinating in Kansas during the Race Across America. Glad that's not part of the picture on an IM.
  • Did a 1:37 run last night. Was feeling under the weather so had to cut it short. Managed to do the m.s at a good clip. I will chalk this up to a building mental toughness and how do a long run when you have a fever.
Going to take today's swim off to get ready for the weekend
  • My week has been a little screwy due to travel. I did the Monday and Tuesday runs when I was in NY for work, but I couldn't find a convenient pool. So when I returned on Wednesday, I planned to swim in the morning and bike in the evening (and skip the run). But I had no energy at night and called it quits after about 20 minutes. Thursday morning I felt great and ran about 13.75 miles in 1:50. And the swim this morning was fine. The weather in the DC area is supposed to be great this weekend for biking and I can't wait to get out tomorrow morning at 5:45 am!
  • @Atif, sounds like you need the day off today! Rest up.

@Keith, it's all about doing the best with what you can, especially when travel is in the mix. Have a great bike tomorrow!

  • So I took the day off friday. Didn't even swim. I am always amazed when I take days off , of how much spare time I have on my hands. I really don't know what to do with it image
Sat, was a great workout. Felt good during the 4 hrs of riding, did 74 miles. Was tempted to turn around to round it up. Did 30mins of the run, with the last 1mi going all out.
I am surprised how good my legs feel after that.
  •  Hi all-

So coming up on Sunday, not one of my better weeks. Had to move things around. Really struggled today with running, especially since coming trying back from my injury/s. Lots of doubt got the best of me. All I can say is tomorrow is another day. I will be doing my 4 hr ride tomorrow. One foot in front of the other, one day at a time

     Happy training everyone
