Week 5
I've been having a great week so far. The run on Monday was fun. I ran two 3.5 mile loops in my parents Stepford Colony near Williamsburg, VA. Everything is perfectly manicured. I don't think the morning walkers expect to see someone doing two loops of the neighborhood. One 60+ woman said to me on the second go round: "You're incredible!" That felt good, even though it was somewhat absurd. I missed the swim that afternoon, but had a great swim on Tuesday.
I saw the 30/30 bike workout this morning and decided that doing hills on my road bike was about the same thing. Last year, doing intense hills (about 100' vertical each) and easy recoveries on the way down was a staple of my training, and I miss it. I did that this morning and rode for 60' with an average power of 190 and a NP of 243. Average speed was under 16! It's kind of fun to come to a screeching halt at the bottom of each hill because 99% of the world tries to conserve momentum going up, but I'm trying to prolong the hills.

Still kinda whacked out on the schedule for the Tour of CA, but I'm looking for some consistency this week.
I did a long (for me) on Sunday. 12 miles. I eased off on Monday and did a hard fast 4 miles. Now, I'm on track for the rest of the workouts this week.
Last night I swam for the first time in almost 3 weeks. Last time was before CA, and I didn't swim last week either. Swam with my sister who is a former collegiate swimmer. We both followed the EN workout. It was so good to swim with her. Gave me motviation to keep at it. Did the full 3300. Felt great and really flushed out my legs.
For my bike, I'm doing and 11.4 mile local TT. 1st one this year. Excited and anxious. I'll throw in a quick brick, then decide when I'll do my long run depending on weather. After doing 12 on Sunday, I may try and bump it up to 14. We'll see.

I'm recovering from the stomach bug, so no workouts yesterday or today. I'm hoping to get in the 1st open water swim of the season tomorrow.
Keith -
your long run sounds identical to my own this morning. Humid run in central park, hit the first two intervals but wasnt able to do much with the last 30 min interval. As with you lost considerale fluid (6lbs). Oh how good a can of coke tasted at 8 in the morning. I feel your pain with the humidity.
Dana--
I'm in Arlington, VA, just outside Washington, DC.
