IMLP Campsites - Any good leads?

Hey IMLP Peeps and Volunteers, I'm heading up this year to watch the race, volunteer, ride the course, swim, and drink beer - not necessarily in that order.  I was wondering if one or two of you had any insight into the campgrounds around the area, as I'm thinking of just going low-key and popping up a tent.  Wilmington Notch is close, but booked for all but walk-ups.  There are also a couple of nearby campsites (within 16 miles) with amenities.  If you can recommend (or have negative feedback on) one of the sites, I'd appreciate the information.  Many thanks!

Dominic

  • @Dominic: I unfortunately had to back out from making the trip to volunteer. So if you can't find a campsite you should contact Steve Perkins, who may still have a bed available.

  • There's one in Ray Brook, right next to The Tail o' the Pup. It's called Meadowbrook. Not the most quiet place as it's close to the road and that restaurant, but cheap ($14). It's about 8 miles from Lake Placid.
  • Dominic,

Are you still looking for a camp site. If so, give me a call. My son reserved one, and may not be using it.. I am leaving for LP tomorrow. Call on my cell if you are in need of a camp site.
