Let the countdown begin!! 30 days to IMLOU!!!
Okay all IMLOU peeps, we are on the home stretch!! How is everyone feeling, physically and mentally? What are you all working on the most at this time? I am so hyped I cannot sit still! Working on nailing my nutrition. That is my dealio right now! And of course, getting my head calmed down and aiming for a Zen-like calm regarding the race. (I can see the vets all smiling at THAT comment and thinking, uh, yeah right!  Check in and let us know how you're doing! Anyone else nervous??

Admittedly Im getting mentally tired of doing the long workouts (and with the prescribed intensity). Im finding Im dreading the 3000+ meter swim workouts (I think they're the hardest).
I will be ready to start the taper process after my RR #2 next weekend......
The heat and humidity are really adding a mental and physical fatigue component overall
Other then that, I too am getting excited for the race. All in all, I know that come race day I'll have fresh legs and be ready for whatever Louisville throws at me!
30 days. Holy cow. I am starting to enter a major panic mode. Things keeping me up at night are thoughts like,"I haven't run enough!" or "I haven't biked enough!" or "I haven't swam enough!", "I haven't lost enough weight yet!" But then again I always feel that way before a race regardless of my preperation.
The heat has been difficult the last several weeks. My runs do not feel as robust and as strong as I would like. I am somewhat comforted by the fact that everyone else will be dealing with the same issue.
Will Rich and Patrick be at the race?
When I blew up, I didn't crack mentally but I just couldn't hold my watts at threshold on the last set of 20'. I just didn't have the legs. Hopefully today's run will be a little better, I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Sorry that you are dealing with insomnia Barbara as I know that can be tiresome.
Logisitics were a bitch and I split it into two parts did it all on the treadmill with about 2 hours inbetween but it is done. 1:42 and 30 minutes respectively. Good for somewhere between 18 and 19 miles. Held stong paces.
Ordered some New Desoto 400 mile shorts as well as some tri shorts aero downtube bottle, and a new aero drink holder as mine is missing the velcro. I need to find a source for just the rubber bands soon. The onsite store typically has a box of just the rubber bands.
EXCITED for you guys and can't wait for the 30 day countdown to IMWI!!
I am in Chattanooga, TN and suffering the heat with all of you. Also, in my previous 2 IMs, I get terrible insomnia at the peak of training and am like a furnace at night.
Keep up the good work, you guys are almost there!!
Thanks for starting the thread Barb - I'm definitely feeling a serious buzz today, something about the 30-day mark! Wow..
Well it seems like most of us have been getting pretty heat-acclimated (maybe not Yasko
) so let's think positively that that's one less thing to worry about!
I go on vacation this Sat for a week. Very much looking forward to being able to train. Luckily it's that kind of beachy vacation on Cape Cod and I'll be able to slip away (from 18 people!) only slightly unnoticed.
I had an insomnia night this week, but when my husband asked if I was nervous about IM, I was happy to say that wasn't it. I do feel like the mental prep on EN is so helpful. The nerves will be back, but we are too busy working right now, amirite?
Aimee, you are right, I am probably the only one not heat-acclimated, and funny to say, but I am jealous for all of you in the heat
I feel a bit less motivated this week, I think my body is in calorie deficit in the last couple weeks and just don't feel great. I usually don't loose any weight during IM training, but I have lost 5~8 lbs so far. I havel more appetite this week, and maybe with more sleep, I hope to get some mojo back. I am surprisingly calm and excited about the day to test my fitness. Still have some concerns on my bike pace (I am convinced that I need to purchase a powermeter
That reminds me.....haven't been sleeping real solid throughout the night. Usually for me that a sign of overreaching alittle. Just gotta hang on for a week and a half!
Yep, the nerves are starting to flow now. But I think I am just about ready. Sorry to say but I am glad to hear I am not the only IMLV'r with problems. I just cant cool down at night when I get to bed, anyone that comes in the house thinks it feels like a ice cooler, but I am never cool enough. I have no problem sleepiing though as my body is beat from the two a days. The problem is that in trying to stay out of the heat of the day I have to wait so late in the evening to finish my workout that I am not finished until 8:30pm. I eat some dinner, do some personal things and its already 11pm and time for bed. If I didnt have to be at work by 6am it may not be so bad. I did complete a 15 mile run last night and felt like I could go on, I just hope on race day I am feeling that good and done way before 8:30pm.
@Yasko, let me send some of this Tampa, Fl heat your way!!
I am feeling pretty good. I have been hovering around the same weight for weeks. I guess I thought all the workouts would cause me to drop on the same pretty good diet but we put so much nutrition in during our workouts I am finding that isn't the case.
My boss is letting me get to my desk at 9am so I am doing the big swims and runs in the morning. I am blessed! I am glad you are getting it all in, Richard.
I am taking the family to Hilton Head, SC on vacation next week. I should get the heat acclimation for sure and can slip away for training like Aimee.
BTW, from a post by Rich about his schedule on Facebook, I believe that only Patrick will be at our race.
See you all at the Ole Spaghetti factory on Thursday, August 26th!
So jealous of those of you going on vacation! Awesome! I live within 20 minute drive to Lake Michigan and the beach. Think I'll take some chill time there a couple of days this week, as I can.
Gotta get some breakfast in me now, as I have that 3 hr. ride today! Have a great day everyone! Rock IT!!!
Just a hint.....please look at the "Three Bullets......"post by Coach P in the General Training Section where he asks for hint about IMLOU. Fell free to add to it or just read it and learn!
