Possible Bike course change?

 BIG maybe here.. but the local paper is reporting that a opening/ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Monday Aug 16th for the Harrods Creek bridge.  With any luck, you may be re-routed straight out River Road to 42.   Nothing yet posted from WTC so this is NOT gospel.  Keep your ears to the ground!

    I just looked at bike course in IMLou site, and I noticed there is no mention of "Veer right onto Wolf Pen Branch Rd." in the description or in Bike course overview map... Wonder they will be making any announcement. From the response from WTC someone shared in IamTri site, any changes could be announced at the mandatory meeting. Guess we will have to wait...

    You are right Yasko. I had checked the course description just a couple of days ago (when I heard about the potential re-opening of the bridge) and it absolutely said veer right onto Wolf Pen but now it doesn't. Saints be praised! I wasn't concerned about the hill going out. It was coming up that hill on 42 just before you turned right back on to Wolf Pen that was the tough one for me. I had ridden it a few times so I was ready but I am really glad it is gone! I will be sure to raise a glass on the 16th in celebration!

    I loved that hill on 42 before wolf pen...that's my kind of "do work and say goodbye to 95% of others hill"...but then again this is an Ironman. At the very least it will (A) be much more scenic and (B) put me very close to a cafe with wifi. image Now I just have to rethink my energy (aka coffee) plan. More than 50 days no coffee.... image
