Final week before IMWI
This is it !!!!!!
I am either ready to give birth or I am very ready for this IM because I am doing some serious Nesting.
Already been to the grocery store buying special food for the week, cooked my wfe a nice breakfast, cleaned the entire kitchen, did my laundry, got all my lists in order.
Heading down to the ocean to tread water for 15 minutes ( simulate race day) then do my 45 minute swim.
If I could speed up time I would do it now, not that I want to rush this awesome experience, I just can't wait to get to Madison.
Have a nice relaxing, and enjoyable Labor day !!!

I am so with you Bob. I think we struggle with the concept of 'free time' now that we are in taper mode. I have cleaned, organized, shopped, even went for a long bikeride with my kids and made them a nice breakfast (long is relative when the average age of the group is 8, effort level negative
). Twiddling the thumbs, oh, right, need to go to pool, but it's kind of cold and windy so I'm playing in the forums as a delay tactic. Good thing it's back to work tomorrow, something to distract the mind. OK, sun's back out, time to go.
Free time? I seem to be living the adage--work expands to the time allotted.
Never, but never have I been so a-flutter about packing. Taking me forever, as I get motivated with a flurry, get distracted by the forums, then go do something else, back to lists and packing...it's like I have ADD at the moment. It's as if I don't stop, yet don't get anything done either. Still have to watch the 4 Keys. Oy.
Was going to Walden this morning for last OW swim, but slept in. My summer pool closes today, so I'll hit the water there later to say goodbye to my summer pals. That is if I don't get distracted, and forget to go.
I'm with you Linda. Where is all this extra time I was supposed to have on my hands???

Nemo- prayer service sounds like something I would like to do. Thanks for the info.
I am having a hard time making up my mind on what to wear from swim to bike. Was thinking singlet + arm warmers; but just bought a smartwool lightweight shirt...thinking that might be good on the bike under my singlet. Then save the arm warmers for run inSNB or just leave the long sleeve shirt on after bike. Yep, thinking out loud...hard to plan with not knowing weather. Guess maybe I will bring everything then decide on Friday. What r others wearing on the upper body swim, bike and run?
"Throw away" arm warmers ( $2 socks from Walmart with the feet cut out) & a lightweight vest.
Calling Michele Moreno to the bat phone !!!
Best way to drive to Mt Horeb? Some folks want some course recon on the bike & I was thinking of parking @ ;high school.
Hey All,
Off topic, but didn't think the question was new thread worthy. I'm setting up my garmin 310xt for sunday, and am wondering what the best numbers to have available/what should be hidden during the race. I thought I saw a great list on a forum post a while ago, but can't find it. Does anyone remember seeing it? Or have a good opinion on it?
Thanks!
Alex
At the BBQ was the guy that gave me a lot of running tips. Back in the late 70s, early 80s, he and I were the only folks out running in the boondocks where we grew up. He is a year older and has CP, but is very high functioning and ran XC in HS. We had a great time catching up.
Nice swim when I got home. It was still windy. I tried to pretend that the waves were being caused by 2000+ of my closest friends. Hope it's no worse than that next Sunday (haha).
Gotta get lists and pack. Not motivated. Sleep is appealing...
Nemo - Singlet and arm warmers for me assuming the weather is as promised. I am skin and bones right now and could use a little extra warmth.
Alex - It depends on what you are used to. I look at Avg watts, cadence and distance. I figure time and speed will sort itself out. One less thing for me to worry about. (PS - I have a gramin or else I would look at normalized watts.
Hope everyone else is hanging in there. Try not too sweat the little stuff. This is supposed to be fun right.

Sat: Slept in until 11am, ate lunch, then took a 3 hour NAP. IF=0.00 TSS=0
Sun: Got up at the crack of 10am, then noodled around on the bike with my girlfriends for 2.5 hours. It was ABC (Always Be Chatting/Coasting) all the way.
As for nesting, I finally cleaned the bathrooms and paid bills after being behind for weeks. Wow, I suck as a housewife. Hahaha!
I am completely on top of the packing---so at least I'm good at going on vacations and trips!
Hope you are all happy and healthy! Can't wait to finally meet everyone in person!
BUMP!!
Short and sweet run today. It did NOT feel good. I must be on mancona rules for feeling crappy after a day of rest.
Nesting? Does stalking the Crate and Barrel catalog and shopping for antiques count? I've definitely done a lot of those things this weekend.
I also think I'm one elephant short of being able to help Hannibal invade Spain with all the stuff on the packing list. It takes a lot to travel 140.6 miles!
OK, people, I am at my LIMIT! This time of year is INSANE in my life, and guess what? The fact that I need to do an IM in 6 days does not stop kids entering freshman year in college, going abroad for a semester, starting a new swim team--with all the ancillary stuff that goes with getting all that to happen. Casey has his 17th bday the day I leave!!! Poor kid #4--he'll have to wait until I get back for his present.,
Oh, and I have a newsletter drop-dead deadline tomorrow--guess I need to finish that BEFORE we take Grant to the airport for his trip. THIS IS WHY I ALWAYS WANT TO DO FLORIDA!!!!!!
Next week all will settle down, and the deep training starts when I'm free and clear. It is INSANE here, and I am on overload--a good overload, but if I'm on the beach with my wetsuit and goggles, it will be a miracle.
You will do it!!!! The kids understand and are probably happy to make little sacrifices to make this happen for you! Can't wait to see you super woman!!
Linda- Hang in there you are superwoman.
Michele- It is funny to tell someone that you only ran 4 or 5. They really look at you funny then they say "ONLY" .
I'm with Kitma I slept in until 10:30 on Sat. I decided to switch the ride to Sunday and got completely packed for the trip.
Sunday I got the ride done. I felt good out there. Last week seemed like an emotional roller coaster with all the taper crap playing mental games with my head. I'm in a good place now and I feel ready.
It's going to be great seeing everyone in Madison.
Oh LP- guess what ur not doing Florida....ur doing Wisconsin......So glad u r because if u weren't we wouldn't be meeting up in 3 days!!!!! Hang tight chicka...and don't forget the wetsuit and goggles because we have a DATE IN THE WATER IN 6 DAYS!!!
See this link for directions.. From Downtown, find your way to John Nolen Drive and head towards the belt line, hwy 12/18. Go west on 12/18 to the 151/18 exit (258) and go west (left) towards verona. I I believe exit 258 will say Dodgeville... Stay on 151/18 until you get to exit 69/CR-ID. You will hit a roundabout or two. This link should get you there!! This should be the quickest route.. You will see signs for Mt. Horeb...

These workouts are not using up enough excess energy. I will be a whirling dirvish (sp? haha) packing tonight!
Doh! Sorry, haven't been on the forums for the last few days. Thanks, Michael, nice work! Once you're in Mt. Horeb, 8th Street is the left turn you'll need to take, which is probably the 3rd or 4th roundabout. The Kwik Trip is on the far left corner of that intersection. High school is about 1/2 mile down the road on the left. Of course, you could also drive the course to get there, if you want a refresher of the first part of the bike loop.
Linda,
Hang in there. All though your kids are older, it seems as though my life is always that chaotic. Today all my plans got scrapped because of an emergency c-section right as the sun was coming up.(I am an OB). I try to tell myself over and over that triathlon is what I do to stay sane. It does not always work, but I keep trying. See you in Madison.

STOP!!!!! That's what I told myself after re-reading the stressed out post from last night. Time to make it smooth and clean. Below is what my "lists" now look like. I call it creating my Ironmind. I take any and every fear, stress, question, niggling uncertainty write it down, then re-write it to positive, empowering thoughts. I re-script as much negative or uncertainty as I can and carry that through race day. Stream of conciousness. Time to stop being aflutter and unfocused. It's all about the head space, the mental strategy for me from here on out. This is where I get down to bidness.
What was going on with me yesterday--no can do anymore.
