  • I'm in!

    Tom Glynn
Been here since the beginning so I know what I'm getting in to.

A race is IM TX in May 2011

This will be a bike focus OS. Bike injury has cut off running for a while.

Goal is to push FT to 325 this year. We shall see!
  • Neil MacDonald, Ben Lomond, CA

    IMTX - A Race

    End of OS Goals:
    Weigh 170lb (lose 12)
    46:00 10k

    2011 Season Goals:

  • Robert Mims, but I go by Dave.  I'm 32 and training in Williamsburg, VA.  Doing the INT OS.

My A race this year is IMTX and everything else will depend on where I live at the time.

    Goals:

      - Run:  Sub 18:00 5K, 57 VDOT (currently 51)

      - Bike:  Just got a powermeter, so not sure how to define my bike goals yet.  Don't suck on the bike I guess.

      - General:  Work harder, get faster!

    BorC 70.3 TBD (maybe Ireland)

    OS Goals:
    Increase FTP to 265
Increase Vdot to that which I can legitimately plan on a 4 hour IM marathon
Come out w/ good body comp and 160lbs. (I'm 5-11)

  • Ned Payne

    Richmond, VA

    Intermediate OS

    A race is IM Texas

OS Goals: Really need to drop 30 to 35 lbs. ( I can drink a bunch of water to stay in the CLY group), finish Texas in less than 12:45, and work on swim.  I have been out all year with an injury and surgery, so there is a lot of work to do, but had my first race yesterday since last November and I cannot wait until May for Texas and this race was just a trail run.  I also have a new PM so really looking forward to the OS with that this year.

  •  Very excited seeing all the IM Texas people coming in.

  • Maybe we should rename the Oct OS the TX OS! It'll be fun to meet everyone at the event after training together virtually for the next 6 months.
  •  @ Tom and Gary, at my count we have 20 EN folks doing IM Texas.  Should be fun.  The mojo that built among the team for IMWI was GREAT!  Should be fun!

  • IM Texas is going to be stacked! 20 EN members so far?! Can't wait to begin trainin, Yawl.

  • Very cool. Looking forward to it.

    Kansas 70.3
    Branson 70.3 or Augusta 70.3 - A race

Whatever else I feel like doing!

I'm going to just focus on half distances and shorter next year. I'll figure out my out season goals after I test.

I'm new to triathlons, but I'm very excited to get started. Why not start out with a bang and a HIM.
My first race will be in the first couple weeks of May in White Lake, NC (they haven't announced the official date)

I haven't got a concept of race season goals yet, but I plan to be as fit as possible. I would like to lose another 25 lbs which will put me at 185. I'm down from 300 which has been an awesome journey.

I've done the first week of the beginner OS and plan to do Week 2 this week, but I guess I'll be starting again next week. I'm looking forward to it.

  • Patty Harris,

    Palo Alto, CA

    Intermediate OS

    Races this year:

    1. Ralph Half
    2. IMC

    Goals:

    1. Lose 10-15 pounds (to better handle heat as one benefit)
    2. Run off the bike without back issues
    3. Top 10 finishes (and ultimately, podium baby!)

And, I'm still nursing a fractured foot, but I can ride a trainer and swim.  The estimate for "real" running is 9 weeks.  Next week I get to start PT where they have an AlterG Anti-gravity Treadmill.  The foot issue conflicts with my running goals, but that's why we have goals, eh?

  • Branan, I did IM NOL 70.3 last year. Nicely run race. The tragic effects of Katrina are still everywhere. The heat was something else. I was born there and grew up on the Gulf Coast in Texas but I do believe I have lived in the Midwest long enough that the heat and humidity were race killers for me. Came in pretty slow on the run. I'm hoping that I can do some sauna training this winter for Texas. I actually read a story on acclimating through use of a sauna. Gonna give it a try.
  • @Patty,

We'll hobble together. Fractured hip socket means no running until Thanksgiving or so for me.

There are a bunch of us in the East Bay Danville area. If your ever riding out here, let us know. Also a bunch of us go out to see the Tour of California and meet up with the EN folks, so be prepared to come meet everyone sooner or later!
  • @Tom,
Thanks! My husband and I nearly made it to the tour this year, but rain and work schedules got in the way image
For you and I, until patience is the key to success!
    • Dewey Carpenter, Coral Springs, Fl,  Beg OS
    • A1A Half  Mary (B), Fl 70.3 (A), SC Half Iron (A)
    • Goals Weight 220# at end of OS, Fl70.3 < 6, SX Half < 5:45
  • Jim Snow, Gilbert, Arizona

    Beginner OS

    A-Races: Eagleman and IMUSA

    OS Goals:

Get FTP back up to 220+

    Get vDOT to 49

    Season Goal: IMUSA under 13hrs

  • Hello all.

    Chris Rabbat

Hamilton Ontario (the former future home of the Phoenix Coyotes!)

    New EN member

    Intermediate OS

    Goals:

    1.       Strong IMUSA 2011 (not yet sure how that will translate into time, but better than 13hr in 2009)

    2.       Improve Vdot to 52

    3.       Raise FTP to 250

    4.       Really want to learn how to train with power and get strong on the bike.

I am very impressed by the team so far, and look forward to ongoing positive interactions.  Vegas this weekend, then down to the cave for some meaningful training.
  • Count me in...and I'm nervous image I took 2009 off to have a baby and only made it to one triathlon in 2010 as a result of too many things/excuses. Time to whip my butt back into shape...stats....

    Erika McEachran
    Ottawa Ontario Canada
Home of the Ottawa Senators...who happen to be a much better team then the Phoenix Coyotes...just saying...and since I believe most of the other posters are American I'm not sure anyone else really follows hockey and cares..lol...did I just generalize image I'm not that much of a hockey fan but I couldn't resist.

Starting the inter OS and this will be the first year training with EN

    Race Scehdule
    Feb half marathon "C race"
    May half marathon "B race"
    June/July half IM "B race"

August 14th - Copenhagen Challenge "A Race" - first irondistance!

Outseason goals - lose the baby fat (those last 10 pounds minimum but would love to love 15 if possible) and get fast again. I've done lots of slow stuff this year and I need to work on speed/pain!

2011 goals - run the whole marathon in the ironman and run a stand alone half mary in 1:45 or less (current PB is 1:53:XX)

Now its time to create a sig .....E

  • @Erika,
Lots of Canadians here . I just happen to live in California image. I did live in Ottawa for 20 years, but not sure I could take snow anymore, nor all those horrible bugs all summer.

Is Don Cherry still doing Hockey Night in Canada?
  •  Sign me up!  I live in Golden, CO and dropped the Intermediate OS in my schedule.

At nearly 200#, I don't usually "maintain" power output when the road turns up. It ends up FTP+ to keep moving forward.  My plan is to improve my bike strength/FTP as far as the program will take me, then likely do it again.  After a fun, well paced, albeit slow, race at IM CDA, I am going back to shorter distances to work on the higher intensity.

My race schedule fits this plan: Big Sur 1/2 mary in November (nice travel trip), Colorado (half) Marathon 5/1/11 in Fort Collins, Reno Tahoe Odessey early June, and my A race: Loveland Lake-to-Lake Olympic.

If my training shows good results, I will consider another IM in '12 or '13.

    - Joe Wrona

  • @Joe....big momentum building for IMLP in 2012.
  • I'm Don Goldstein.  I live in Los Angeles.  It looks like the coaches signed me up for this.  I'm game.  My A race for next year is IMAZ.  I plan to do Wildflower 70.3, NYC oly and a couple others.  I've done two sprints last year and two sprints this year.
