  • I'll be joining, Wayne Kehr, Houston, Tx. Intermed OS

    IM TX (First)

    Stay healthy, Race EN smart.

  • Hi - I'm Sumner Smith, from Asheville, NC

I'm a new member, doing the Intermediate OS

I'm going to focus on Xterra for the first half of the season:
    * Xterra Uwharrie 5/2/11 - B
    *Xterra Tsali 6/6/11 - B
    * Xterra East Championships - Richmond - 6/20/11 - A

My main OS goal is to improve my biking. I come from a running background, and would like to feel like my bike is somewhat comparable to my run. I haven't done any testing yet, so no metrics to go with that so far.

Looking forward to having a structured OS, and a group to do it with.
  • Wayne, where do you live in Houston?
  • I am in

    Zach Aters

  • forgot to put that I am doing the Intermediate program
  •

C-Race is two mile Open Water swim in May

Planning on attending EN Lake Placid training Camp.

This is only my second season of Tris.  Looking to get faster on the bike and to increase my overall fitness.

Goal is to have a great experience at Lake Placid with no injuries.  Sub 14 hours would be great.

  • my goal is to finihs IM W 11, os goal to just be alot faster, i have never tried to go fast during any part of any season.  here are some of my OS / near race goals; weight 190 lbs or less, I am at 198 right now, but I am already doing my diet thing and definitely watching the cals.  I am doing the beginner OS program.

I've done a couple of 1/2 tri, marathons and have not been happy with the results, so I am starting at the beginning and going to work very hard at what the coaches tell me what to do.

I am taking some yoga, pilaties, bunn, stretching class at the Y on Tues & thurs; so one goal would be to be able to keep up with my wife who cant run 5 miles but kicks my "butte" at every class.  this is mostly a fun kinda class for me, i just enjoy the heck out of it.

i am going to do a local 1/2 ironman in the end of May; local to me because there really is no 1/2 ironman in the end of may nearby and that is what is recommended to me by richard.

i live in Downers grove, ill and am fortunate to have a really nice pain cave, Son and I just remodeled the basement into a 1/2 theater room / pain cave, so i can workout and watch whatever on a 8' by 4' theater system - it was under $2k for all the work and stuff.

Other goal is to keep up with run training even when work trips try to derail me.

  •  In for first OS.

    HIM in mayish timeframe

IM in late Oct. early Nov. 2011

  • Mike Hedman

    Saratoga, CA  (near San Jose)

    Intermediate Plan

    Schedule:

American River 50 mile run in April (B race)

My A race will be either:

    Western States 100 miler

    -or-

Desert RATS 148 mile stage race

Then maybe a local 1/2 iron race in the fall

So my A race will be in June, but I won't know which one until the WS lottery in the beginning of December.

My goals for the OS are to build up some running speed and keep my legs healthy.

    Mike

  • Steve Gordon - Chicago Beginner OS

Last few seasons have been off due to injury, family and career 'stuff'.  Hoping to stay healthy and get back into my training routine as well as I would like to get back t the times I had a few years ago.

First "A" race will be High Cliffs 1/2 in June in Wisconsin followed by IMW.  May do a few sprints to shake the triathlon rust off but haven't decided on that yet.  Need to see how the macro scheduling looks in order to pick the appropriate weeks to race.

    OS goals are :

    1 - raising my ftp to 215+

2- get my VDOT to 43+

3- start to use infinit (instead of hammer) and dial in my long distance nutrition needs.  This has failed me for years and I need to get a better handle on this for 4+ hour races.

  • Hi Michael, glad to hear there are a few Chicago area people!  Which 1/2 are you considering at the end of May?  I'm not familiar with a local one but may be interested....

    Steve

  • 48 hours (or less) until OS start. Just finished putting the orange trainer tire on for testing Monday morning. Good luck everyone! I started a bike thread over in the October OS forum. post up your numbers when you got 'em.
  • Thanks Kevin! I'm testing tomorrow since I'm out of town on business Monday - Wednesday. I'm antsy to get going but scared. I'm totally going full bore with the plan this time around, no cutting corners!!! Can't wait to see how this all goes!!! Gotta get the Texas mojo going!
  •  kurt,

just saw your post.  Yea lets meet up some time to ride.  I'd love to learn some new routes.  I've been in Erie for 5 years, but I'm sure there are routes I don't know about.

    Roger

  • Okay, I'm in. Thought I might drop out for this year (since I will be in the last year of my age group at 54 ) but couldn't do it.

    Races this year:

I finished my first 70.3 this past year and did better than I thought I would, but think I have a lot of room for improvement. My goals this year? Stay in the moment while training and racing, finish an IM on two feet with a smile on my face!
  • Hi Stephanie! I'm from Golden...nice to know someone else in the Denver metro is an EN member!   Is this your first OS? This will be mine. Welcome and hope to meet you!

    Geoff Palmer

North Attleboro, MA (soon to be Charlotte, NC)

    Intermediate OS

I've been in the November OS for 2 years straight, but something (injury or life) always derails my training for at least 4 weeks - so I figured I'd start a month earlier!

I have no race goals, just a desire to stay injury-free, and hopefully say goodbye to back/sciatica issues that plagued my 2010 season!

  • Hey Folks,

Please see that we have created a October OS Group, so you can all gather together and have own lil' space to play and stuff . Go to Community/Groups above and find the October OS Group, and join.

I'll see if we can move this thread into that Group. Not yet sure how to do that though.
