Oct OS Week 13 - Holiday Week

So who's still around during holiday week? I had another all green week in Training Peaks last week (hit all the workouts), a bit of shuffling this week but fingers crossed will do the same again.

Did bike yesterday morning, then T-Pace swim test last night - am starting HIM swim hack as only 12 weeks till first A race of split season. Then brick this morning really wiped me out, legs are still completely dead now - looking forward to a sleep in tomorrow before another swim tmrw night.

Good luck to all for juggling the week - don't know about you but I am super looking forward Sunday's full rest day, first in a while!

Happy Holidays

  • Was able to get in the ride today - legs still feel a little weak but overall was a good ride.  At this point I figure any workouts are a bonus this week with all the family and holiday happenings.

Hope everyone gets in a solid week and enjoys the holiday season.

  • Quick question regarding the run on Wednesday.  My plan says to do the intervals all @ 5k Test pace with full recoveries between each.

Is this refering to the prior testing pace or the pace that I hope to achieve?  I ask as the z5 pace = the 5k prior test pace, so I'm confused as to the difference between the z5 pace and the stated 5k test pace.

    Any info is appreciated

  • @Steve- I'll be shooting to do mine at the pace I'm looking to get in next week's test, which will be about 10 sec per mile faster than my last test. It will translate to being a tad slower than my z5 longer intervals I've been doing at the track. That's my game plan, but others may have a different take. Good Luck!
  •  Steve:

It seems the plan calls for you to do the intervals at your goal 5k test pace. I did mine this am at about 5 to 10 seconds faster than my last 5k test. It makes sense, as you want your body to adapt to a slightly faster pace, but it was painful. I needed every bit of the recovery time to gear up for each interval.

  • @Steve - How did the 5K pace feel, and which pace did you use - goal or previous?

I did mine at goal pace and it seemed OK - I've been cheating on my VO2 200s and 400s by doing them a bit faster!!

Keep up the good work. Just back from the parents place and the bike has suffered.

Any opinions about whether I should do or drop the Bike test the week before a marathon? I was going to do it tomorrow.
