The JOS Playlist
On the Dashboard today, Ken Wood posted a couple of songs that got him through his bike workout -- what a cool idea! We all probably listen to music to help us through our workouts - and feel the mojo as it might be said here in the Haus. So I thought maybe a separate thread for the occasional playlist post would be fun. I am sure not everyone's musical taste is the same, but don't be afraid to share if you feel into it. I'll start.
This song is what starts every single run for me - I get about 5 minutes to warm-up before the song really rocks!
TOOL - Parabol/Parabola

Good idea! I been leaving the ipod at home lately to pay attention to the pace watch, but when I carry it, I still love Guns N Roses....
Welcome to the Jungle just gets me going.
@Greg: nice one; I hadn't heard it before. Perfect timing for warm up/drill it.
@Chap: that GnR clip is the bomb!
@Chris- Paradise by the Dashboard Light is 8:28
I put my ipod on shuffle for today's trainer ride to see what would pop up. This is generally a dangerous idea because my ipod has everything from Verdi Requiem to Muppets Unplugged on it. But I was a little tired of the standard cycling playlist, so what the heck! Here's a few of my suprises:
Short but always pumps me up:
A pleasant surprise from the Mile 18 playlist, gave me a smile remembering all my Chicas at Moo and the Pink Speedo Boyz
The Guilty Pleasure (don't hate me, but this is 90 beats per minute so its a great cycling/running tune)
Old skewl or no skewl.
This little diddy from GreenDay was my mantra leading up to IMAZ last Nov.

Metallica made the list? I didn't think there was anything else on the list.
My standard is lots of Metallica for the FT stuff. I also add in:
Rob Zombie, Nirvana, Green Day, Foo Fighters, AC/DC (IronMan2 soundtrack on loan from library as we speak), older Van Halen, Zeppelin.
Last year, I got lots of good suggestions from other's playlists and I borrowed quite a few suggetions. I'll have to check out some Tool now. I've also been meaning to add some Godsmack.

For the Metallica fans, you might like this -- I do:
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE - END OF DAYS
A few others on my regular playlist:
More some other day. . .
@ John -- Breadfan is ALWAYS a winner!!!
Have you seen the original of the song performed by Budgie? On their 1973 album 'Never Turn Your Back on a Friend'
I have recently become a fan of Godsmack...
Saw them in concert a few months ago and it rocks!
Wow! We've got some metalheads in Da Haus. Love the cameos from Josh Todd of Buckcherry in that Escape the Fate video (not to mention Ron Jeremy... that's one seriously creepy dude!)
I'll throw in Metallica - Damage Inc. It's 5:40 and I used to listen to it on my way to the ice rink when I played in Sioux City, Iowa. Google maps says it's a 10 minute drive but I would usually make it there before the song ended ;-)

One of my training buddies here in TX posted this to our group:

I've downloaded the 77min mp3, but haven't listened yet.
Pandora radio is the best. You can make all kinds of blends by artist, genre, etc.
Got lots of songs on the iPod Shuffle. . .this one came up during my run tonight and it actually made me laugh:
Thought of Mr. Perron when I heard this song on my run yesterday: Talk about big hair! My buddy and I go and see them when they come to The Fillmore in San Francisco. They put on a great straight up rock show.
Then heard this as well and just pushed it. Fook I am old.
@Scott: Thanks for the link to Girl Talk. That is a really cool albumn.
@John: RATT!! I haven't listened to them since I was back in high-school with my long hair and fook-u attitidue. Nice!
I have found that this one works really well for getting me out of bed in the morning:
Wow. Alvin Lee.....brings me back to 7th grade and my cool friend with older brothers who did a lot of drugs......awesome
Thanks!
I love a good cover of Good Morning Little School Girl. . .I am partial to the Grateful Dead version because that is where I heard it first, but a good song no matter who's playing it.
