OMG! Only 194 days until the race! Holy smokes! I agree w/Matt, glad I have the time to get my fitness where I want it to be! (Said Mr. Kona!! I have a TON of work to do, but I will get it done!
Oh, Okay Matt, if you insist...no practice doing bike intervals w/the swim goggles on...! LOL!!! Definately NO goggles on the bike this year!!! Should make a WORLD of difference!! Okay kids, don't try this at home...NEVER, EVER, give your RX glasses to a volunteer at an IM!!! They will NOT end up at the swim IN table!! I promise!!!
I just discovered this thread but I've been signed up since November for 2011. I raced in 2010 and have a score to settle, and also will be trying to qualify for Kona, armed with my EN tools. Last year I was one of those "walkers littering the run course" that RnP talk about in the 4 Keys video.
I was about 30th in line for the swim last year at 4:15am. By the time the line started moving I was about 200th which was frustrating. I won't make that mistake again. I am a decent swimmer so I won't be in any rush to get to the front of the line again.
185 days..........hard to believe it will be 95* on race day. I've been doing all my runs and biking in a long sleeve shirt, never too early to acclimate!!
i've actually been doing the same thing. i'm very nervous how my body will acclimate to the heat, so i've been doing anything and everything to start prepping for it now. one other way i've recently started to prepare was by turning my fan off. granted, my pain cave suffers from a lack of air circulation now and the smell is probably bad enough to kill a cockroach, but i think the added level of discomfort will pay dividends in the end.
