  • Little late to the party but just finished my 5k test tonight. Ran a 32:36, down from 33:11 in week 1. vDot went from 27.3 to 27.8. Would have loved to have a bigger improvement but I'll take it!

  • Well, I promised I would report back, and I try really hard not to break promises, so here goes.

    Executive summary: it was not my day. This cold has done a lot more damage than I thought it did. Hit the wall, sucked it up, and finished right around 1:41. Pain was as significant as IM run, and had to walk.

    Further description can be found in the Dan Forbes run mojo thread. Needless to say, I will be leaving my Vdot alone for the time being, and focusing on completely recovering from this virus.

    Thanks for so much support. Definitely thought of this thread several times out there, which helped a lot.

  • Hey Mike, no big whoop!  Crappy weather, crappy cold, crappy winter to train outdoors, I wouldn't worry about it.  Not to mention, you're 8 weeks into OS and running a half is a big jump at this point in the training.

    Settle down and get ready for some VO2 fun!

  • Hey Mike - sorry to miss you yesterday. I had a similar not pleasant experience though I am not sick, so don't have that excuse! Thanks Dave for noting that it is early in the OS for a 1/2. I do think it was too early for me to do this one without a proper 1/2 hack, which I didn't fully utilize b/c found it slightly too late.

    Was hoping to use this as a Vdot test as well, but that would set me back and I don't think that would be helpful right now. My current vDot is working well for the JOS workouts.
