Race Day Logistics
This is my first Boston and I am not familier with the route other than the simple map on the BAA website. I have a lot of questions about family and friends, where should they be/go before, during and after the race.
I will be staying at my brothers house in Bellingham so what is the best way for me to get to the start? Can I get dropped off by family? Shuttle in from somewhere nearby?
Is the startline family friendly?
what will it be like for family to hop-scotch from place to place for viewing? By train? Bus? MTA?
How about at the finish line?
Where do I have family go to meet after the race?
I know... so many questions for a noob.......

The start line is NOT family friendly....it's s TON of runners taking over a very small town. Not fun if you are not running.
There aren't really any hopscotch options. Maybe from bottom of heartbreak or by Cleveland Circle (miles 21-ish) to the finish, or the D-line far out to before mile 17, and then the finish, but that's really it. Finish line is a mob scene...if they chill on the course to see you (say wellesley) and then drive to the finish. At the finish there'll be meet up places labelled by letter of last name you could meet at....or you could pick a famous hotel if you all know where it is!
Locations along the course that are close to MBTA subway stations are:
•Kenmore Square (Green lines B,C, and D): One-mile-to-go marker
•Woodland (Green line D): Mile 16.8 of the Marathon course
•Boston College (Green line
•Cleveland Circle (Green line C): mile 22.4 of the Marathon course
The MBTA's Commuter Rail Line (Framingham/Worcester) also makes stops along the Route in Framingham, West Natick, Natick, Wellesley Square and Wellesley Hills. For more information on watching the race, pick up a Spectator's Guide at local hotels or the Marathon Information Kiosk in Copley Square Park on race weekend
