20 weeks...

20 weeks from today IMLP 2011 will be in the books!  Kinda scary to think about.  I have not raced IM since LP 2008.  Pretty excited but more than a little scared.

Spent this past weekend in LP.  Even though I go up there regularly [its semi local and I ski there a bit in addition to the summer activities] I was giving the town and the roads a careful eye this time.

I am sure that we will have a great group, always do.

The rally will be a blast.

Look forward to seeing those of you that I know and meeting those of you that I do not know yet!

It was day one of the 20 week plan, anyone actually do the swim?

  • I hope your 20 week plan includes a Whiteface ascent.  Maybe 2 for good measure.  ML is going to need to bring his A game this year.  I'll be about 3-4 lbs lighter and about 12-15 Watts stronger.  If he thinks he's going to walk away with the title again, he may be in for a rude awakening.

  • Going up the hill at least as part of the ML stupidity challenge. Seems unlikely that the weather will be as bad as last year huh? I am a bit lighter and will have at least as many watts to apply to the problem. The trick is to do that climb without shattering yourself for the next days fun.

Its always a good thing to have a rocket surgeon in the group
  • I'll be focused on St. Croix 70.3 and then switch over to the IM plan! Can't believe it's only 20 weeks til IMUSA!

@Chris, Justin - you boys have got some nice numbers!
  • 20 weeks is scary for sure...I was actually a little nervous as I was loading up the General Prep training plan.
  • So let me get this straight - you guys are bailing from the OS and loading up the 20 week plan now? I was advised to finish the OS, do two weeks of transition, and then get into the 20 week plan starting at about week 5...
  • @ Jim, for me I started my OS in October...I did a full 20 weeks of OS and just finished my 2 weeks of transition. I have the 20 week IM plan loaded up (week 1) but to be honest the weather in VA is still questionable so my long bike rides on the weekend may still resemble more of an OS type trainer ride until about April. I have added going to the pool 2x/week. For me, not sure I can follow a 20 week IM plan b/c I would probably burn out by June.
Seems like there is more than one way to get it done. From what I have read in the forums the 12 week out marker from race day is the critical point to start the Ironman plan.
if you have questions recommend you ask RnP in the Macro forum.
  • @ Jim: I started JOS and will bail after week 16 to do 1 week transition then the 12 wk ironman race prep - per Coach. Everyone's in a different boat depending on when they started OS.
