  • Holiday Inn Express in Hayden (www.3play.com) was great. Breakfast every morning, it sits right on (like 50 ft off) about mile 52/104 of the bike course, and is easy to get to and from. Because of where it is located, you csn do your last few pre-race workouts right out the door, and can do the course recon of the hilly section by doing a 15 mile loop right out of the hotel. Great location.

Plus, it is easy to get away from all of the hysteria that is Ironman when you want to...IF you want to. It has a water park attached to the back of it, so, if you have kiddos that you want to entertain before or after the race, it is easy to spend an extra day or two and make it a family vacation too. I really like it.
  • X2 on the Holiday Inn Express- Hayden. 10 minute drive from downtown. Get away from the Ironman Buzz. Clean rooms and great staff. Breakfast is good.  Just ask for a room above the second floor and away from the elevator....trust me and don't ask how I know!  A great restaurant 2 minutes away is Ciao Mambos, great italian with an awesome staff, beautiful restaurant. There are three grocery stores within a 2 minute drive as well. The water park is $15 for an all day pass. My wife drove up there after I started the bike and cheered me on from the motel (100 foot walk). It was nice to have some mojo up that area.

See you in Arizona in November!

  • DITTO ON MAMBOS!!! We ate there 3 times and it was awesome!

    LOL
  • If you are looking for a house to rent, let me know. Stayed in one 4 miles outside of town - 5 bedrooms and hot tub....worked out well....
  • Stayed with JT with a few others and Coach Rich. Rich loved it. Great place for a good group. Let me know if interested.
