Oct OS: Week of 12/26/11 Run

After my swim today decided to jump on treadmill and get day # 2 of the EN challenge done.  One mile warm up with 4x30 second strides.  Got this crazy idea to just get my Wednesday vDOT test done.  Went well with dry heaving at the end.

20:43.  New vDOT of 47.7 from 46.  Chasing that 50 mark by Feb 13.  Very happy.

  • Carl that is fantastic! My vDot started at 41.9 and my last test was 43.26. All I got to do is get to 43.3 on next week's test and I hit Patrick's predicted vDot for the OS. You must've passed your predicted VDot by now!

Today was 3X 1mi (5') @Z5. My goal time was 7:00 and I hit 7:01, 6:48, and 6:40. I never got into Z5 AVHR until maybe the last .25 of each mile - so I figure it was okay to burn hot. No wind and a cool 35 degrees had a lot to do with it I am sure.

Time to chill out and watch some Bowl Games this afternoon and try and not overdo it with snacks and stuff!

    Joe-

Thanks for always giving me that extra push.  Our crew always is pushing each other and that helps.  Its half mental for me ecspecially when we get down to the last few weeks of the OS.

My vDOT from the coach is 50 so I am really striving for that.  I was stuck at 49.9999999 last year and it was frustrating.  Therefore, this year I have really been concentrating on 180 foot strikes a minute or 90 + in 30 seconds.  It has changed my foot strike a little but I have not suffered from my annual ITB yet this year.

I agree with you regarding your vDOT.....I see a bump coming with the numbers you have been hitting.

Well time to go and get day 4's run in of the EN Holiday Challenge.
