Tracking Workouts

Hi!

I'm SURE there's a topic out there that addresses this question - if so please feel free to refer me.

What should I use to track my workouts?  Training Peaks? TP Free or TP Premium? EXCEL? Garmin Connect?

What do people use and like, and what should I look for in a tracking tool?

Thank you,

Russ

  • With so many tools out there it's hard to recommend any one product. If you use power then WKO+ is essential in my opinion to be able to pull and analyze all of your power data. I believe you can get a discounted copy of WKO+ from coach Rich just look under Team discounts. Some folks though only have a Mac so they might choose golden cheetah which is open source and free if they don't run a windows emulator on their powerbook.
Personally I upload my files to Garmin connect since I use garmin products and then also put all the files into WKO+.
I'm sure folks will chime in with many more options for you. Good luck.
  • Training Peaks. The web version is really not that expensive. WKO+ provides all the same (and a few more) features, but it (a) is local and cannot be accessed remotely; and (b) only works on PC (for now). If you don't use power, the free version is just fine, especially if you use EN to plan workouts. If you want to use the paid version of Training Peaks, check out www.imtalk.me. They have a discount code for the paid version.
    Welcome,

  • What those guys said. Plus I find I use multiple sources. I use Strava for the fun of it, Garmin because it is free and easy and then Training Peaks is the "official" because of the power....
  • I think I'm in the minority, but I gave up on logging my workouts over a yr ago and don't miss it at all. Was a bit too much of a time suck for me. I do upload my Garmin (bike and run) files to Garmin Connect every month or so just to have it somewhere. And I use WKO+ to quickly analyze FTP tests, RRs or Race Files. Besides that, I don't really log them or pay much attention to them.
