  • Scott thanks for sharing but this webinar was pretty painful to endure. I thought my 30/30's were rough this evening but now I have to reevaluate that opinion! But I do have to say that what I paid RnP for the Power Webinar just become a much better value.
  • I had the webinar on in the background. It was VERY basic, to say the least. She did reinforce some of the stuff that RnP teach around da haus, so that's good to hear.

    And I'm glad she didn't just read the slides word-by-word (that's always painful to endure).

    I also listened in on a USAT webinar yesterday, called "An Anaerobic Approach to Training", which basically TOTALLY reinforced the EN methods, especially in the OS. Seems like some of the world is coming around to the saner side of training!!!

    That sounds unfortunate, since, if they were referring to the kind of training we do, virtually none of it is "anaerobic".  Whatsoever.  I must be a bit OCD, but it annoys me to see people who get paid the big bucks completely misunderstand the idea of "anaerobic".

    If my rant is confusing to anyone, consider this:

    -A 5' max effort, which is close to your VO2max (or VO2peak) is designed to measure your capability to process oxygen.  By definition, it is mostly aerobic.

    -A 5k running event would be considered over 90% aerobic

    A good rule of thumb on this discussion is:

    -if it takes longer than about 5-10 seconds, it is at least partially 'aerobic'

    -if it takes longer than 90 seconds, it is primarily 'aerobic' (or more aerobic than anaerobic)

    -if you can do it with your mouth closed, it is possibly 'anaerobic'

    Or, put another way, every darn thing we do as triathletes is aerobic.  Outside da Haus, it's time to stop demonizing threshold or VO2 work as 'anaerobic' or bad. 

    Sorry for the rant, just drives me nutz!
