Where do you post/save/analyze your data?

Not sure which forum exactly this belongs in so I'm sticking w/ 'general'.  Now that pre-season is over and I'm entering OS, I want to track my data so I know where I'm starting and going.  So far, I've just sort of taken mental notes of what I've been hitting, but as of Monday, that won't do, so I'm curious to here where people post/save/track all their numbers?

I use a Garmin Swim (well, not for the next 14 weeks), a Garmin FR 210 for the run - although I'll be doing my testing on the treadmill, and don't own a bike computer yet, although the Garmin edge 500 is on its way.  I usually just upload everything to Garmin Connect.  Is that good enough for OS purposes?  I'm reading references to TP, TR, WKO+ (hmm, Mac user here...) in various threads and just want to keep it simple: all in one place, w/ as few buttons as possible to hit to import and review the data.

Thoughts? Advice?

Thanks!

  • I would keep it simple like you currently are. I like Garmin connect for the stats. You can break out your weekly runs, bikes, swims, etc and much more. You can manually input your treadmill wko's or you can order a foot pod for your Garmin. Best and cheapest is Amazon. I used the foot pod to work on bring my foot cadence from 80's to 95-100 which has assisted in changing my foot strike and overall speed!

Several of us also use WKO and others. It all depends what you are use to and how deep you want to go with your data.
  • Trainingpeaks.com (free or paid),Strava!, and hard drive. Garmin Connect also, because the ANT+ Garmins send it there automatically.
  • For easy, once place for everything, I like the paid TrainingPeaks. Web based so Mac friendly. Free site is good, just not as much analytics. for great power meter analysis, can't beat WKO+, but it's PC based only. Garmin has their own site if you have Garmin products. Free version of WKO is GoldenCheetah.
  • I like the keep it simple too. I use only WKO for my SBR training records. Contact coach R he can set you with a deal. I like it as it excepts your Power Tap and Garmin data and has a column to write description / notes for anything you want to add.
For me I'll do my workout, that I get from EN. I will download that information on WKO. In that column I put into it what I feel is important for further reference. This past summer was the heat and humidity conditions and where the exercise was done.
I like that program as it is one stop real quick and I move on... done
  • I am a WKO for the bike and garmin for the run. I glance at my data and then compare trends from race to race and plan to plan. There are some super smart folks here that go very deep into the data, so I guess it depends on what you want to do with it.
  • I used to use WKO+, but have switched to the paid version of training peaks. It is more of a training diary/planning/calendar environment that WKO, and it can do just about everything that WKO can do for data analysis.
  • Kate,

I use wko+3.0 but as noted its PC based.  It's been a long time since I used training peaks but their free version is definitely an optiona and a good start.  Finally Golden Cheetah is another option that is Mac based.  Willaim Jenks and Tom Glynn have a wealth of knowledge on this progam.  Check out this link in the wiki if you do a search of the forums on golden cheetah you will get several threads.

  • << WKO+ user. Even though I am a GIS geek at work, I don't really like the whole cloud thing for my own stuff. And since I have not had any cost associated with WKO for the past 3 years, I dont really want to start a monthly $$ for basicly the same thing I already have. <br />
Everyone's different, this just works for me.
  • As a long time WKO+ PC user, I recently moved to 100% Mac. At that time I also moved to TP paid. It was easy to upload all my WKO+ info into TP and I have never looked back. I track all SBR info and also enter my daily weight.
