Training device for run
I currently have a Garmin 310xt that is having problems with screen and some functions. Also, the strap is broken and cannot be repaired. Looking for advice on what you are using these days. Heard the Garmin 910 is good. Others?

I have an old 305 for run training and use it purely for that now that I have power on the bike(I had it paired with a speed cadence sensor on the bike before I had power). I think you could get away with just a pure GPS/HR watch if all you plan on doing is running with it. I like the idea of the 910xt as a "back up" power display on the bike for 70.3 and IM distance(this is my next purchase on the wish list). I guess it just depends on what you want to use it for.
I have the garmin 910XT and love it. Take a look at this in depth review of the 910XT and check out much more on this site.

910 is GREAT watch, but I don't think it rides that well. It does not have as many fields as the Garmin 500 and you cannot use any of the lap features if you are using multi-sport mode. When in multi-sport mode, if you hit lap, it will change to the next sport or transition.
Um, why are you showering with your HRM? Well. . . maybe we don't really want to know. . . .
Constantly checking in with my heart...!
Just kidding, but I usually wear my sports watches all day, so with the FR 210 I just have to remember to take it off before I shower and then put it back on. I know, the extra step is killingme
Regarding the inability to use the lap functions on the 310XT or 910XT during automultisport, yeah, it's a bummer. That being said, you can always program the autolap functionality for each sport. I have the run and bike set up to automatically record laps by distance so I can go back later and analyze what happened if I so choose. I also set the bike portion up to have an alarm every 30 minutes to remind me to eat or take electrolytes during HIM and longer stuff like centuries and fondos.
