New England / Northeast - Best Oly/Sprint races

I'll be focusing 2013 on getting faster and racing Olympic and Sprint distance races.  I'm also planning to do Timberman 70.3.

Since I'm new to the New England/Northeast  I'm looking for suggestions on races that I should add to my calendar.  What are your favorites?

  • If you like hills, I reco Rev3 Quassy Oly (First weekend in June) www.rev3tri.com and the Litchfield Hills (Oly) tri. I think that one is in August. www.hartfordmarathon.com. HMF also does several other sprints in CT as well.

If you're more of a flatlander like me, check out the Team Mossman races. www.teammossman.com. Park City Oly is great for spectators as there is a 5 loop bike in the park.

All of these races are in CT. I did enjoy Timberman and found it not as hilly as I had expected but I compare everything to Quassy which is brutally hilly!
  • Favorite OLY is the Lobsterman Freeport Maine in September!
  • Welcome to New England, Brett! There is a series in VT called the Vermont Sun Series. It is right near Middlebury, VT. I believe they do two sprints and two Olys as well as a half. Great venue and reasonably small 100-200 racers. Times 2 on the Quassy in June and then the Rev 3 old orchard beach in August. There is also a good sprint in South Berwick, ME called Pumpkinman in September.
  • Hi Brett-In MA you can't go wrong with the Cranberry Oly and their SunMultisports series http://www.sunmultisportevents.com/Home_7208.htm. Also in RI (where I am) there is the TriMom series at http://www.trimomprod.com. Finally, the FIRM series has some great NE races ESPECIALLY in MA (firman RI is a favorite) at http://www.firm-racing.com .
