Bricks and LONG training days!

I thought the timing of this article from BT discussing brick workouts was interesting considering all that was discussed over in the Jordan Rapp thread that pointed to a couple of ST threads.

Anyway - I am glad RnP do not have this kind of training in the EN plans!!

  • Yea, I'm with you !
  •  Mike and I go wayyyyy back, though I haven't seen him in a few years. He's a former Marine also and was one of the first coaches I networked with back in the day. Note that he's primarily a short course coach now. It would be fun to have beers with Mike and talk about this and many other topics. My notes:

    • I think bricks do have value for short course athletes, as it's important to learn how to say fuggit to the discomfort of running off the bike and just GO.
    • I don't disagree much with his ideas about HIM and IM bricks, though I don't agree with the length of the brick run that he's talking about. 45' is fine.
    • Finally, the main reason why we don't have you swimming before a bike/run race rehearsal is largely logistics: not many of us have access to a quality RR bike route from the parking lot of our pool.

Anyway, great topic but one with more value to us as a community in about March or so when the spring HIM and early IM peeps starting putting on their race prep hats.
