Nov OS Playlist

I thought that I could make a mixtape/playlist of EN major jams for the month of November. Leave a reply with your songs you love to jam to while running or biking. I will make a playlist on Spotify and also create a mixtape for others to download.

Ok, enough of me. What's playing in the rest of da Haus??

    thank you for doing this!

  • x2 on Eminem / Lose Yourself

  • Great suggestions! I have to head to a birthday party, but will make a playlist and share the link tonight!
  • I'm a bit of an old fogie, but i will put together some of my favs - disco from the 70s and 80s and then Violin concertos - you can't go wrong with the presto from the Mendelssohn Octet - i'll figure out how to do the play list on spotify...
  • Jane...when I read your post I was reminded of the B-52's "Love Shack" and Infernal"s "From Paris to Berlin"

These two just made their way onto my iPod this afternoon as well:

He Said He Loved Me (Extended version) ~ Reverend and the Makers
Don't Wake Me Up ~ Chris Brown
  • There's really no point to a playlist unless it includes Gangnam Style.

Oh! We could totally make a shared playlist on Spotify - a few of us at work have done that. Everyone can contribute.

When I did my last FTP test, I created a playlist* to help me get through it:
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - AC/DC
    T. N. T - AC/DC
    Gasoline - Audioslave
    Cochise - Audioslave
    Stupify - Disturbed
    Shout 2000 - Disturbed
Pull Me Under - Dream Theater
Ashes To Ashes - Faith No More
Last Cup Of Sorrow - Faith No More
Zombie Eaters - Faith No More
You Could Be Mine - Guns N Roses
    Dead Bodies Everywhere - Korn
    Crsh'em - Megadeth
    Creeping Death - Metallica
    Aneurysm - Nirvana
    Burn It Up - Offspring
Killing In The Name - Rage Against the Machine
    Sehnsucht - Rammstein
    Push It - Static-X
    Wisconsin Death Trip - Static-X
    I'm With Stupid - Static-X

    * I was not aware of Gangnam Style when this list was created
  • Anything Warp Brothers, Prodigy, and Crystal Method. ACDC, Nelly, and Eminem. And yes, even Kesha, Pink, and Katy Perry. Heck, I've even put in some Charlie Daniels!
  • Louder than ever - Daughtry
    Hello - Martin Solveig
    Spaceship - Daughtry
    Titanium - David Guetta
Uprising - Muse (I ran the entire marathon at VIneman Full last year singing this in my head)
Want u back - Cher Loyd
  • I have many more to load from all the great suggestions. If you have Spotify go ahead and subscribe to the playlist. I will keep updating as songs pour in. Great suggestions and many new songs for me to listen to while training. Love it!

Working on uploading songs for Endurance Nation November OS mixtape! ? EN Playlist spoti.fi/PuHbC3
  • Rise against
    Bad Brains
    Tool
  • I must be the only geezer left on the planet that doesn't own an Ipod, never made a play list, and for all the thuosands of miles I've run and biked.... have never listened to music any longer than it takes to work up a sweat.......The 2 times I tried to use headphones or earbuds, it drove me nutz 'cause of the sweat running into my ears.....

OK, i'll crawl back under my rock now....
  • Spotify is not available in Canada.... image
  •  I don't even know what spotify is...

  • @steve - sounds like you have company under that rock.

(Note that music, like posting, doesn't do anything for your racing)

@Kate - spotify : online music source that gives you access to lots of tracks and shared lists of songs to make those long dark indoor winter workouts a little more...engaging.

  •  Aaron - I've made a classical running mix on Spotify - how do I share it? it's called "Janes running classical mix"

  • Flo-rida, Breathe Carolina, Fun, Fatboy Slim

@Russell, to each their own, however, I would argue that anything that makes you more likely to get out on a daily basis and push the effort, be it music, posting, sunglasses, wearing a pink tutu, will make you a better racer. Regardless of how you get there, if you show up to the start line fitter on race day, your race day potential is higher. Obviously, YMMV.
  • I can't access spotify either, but I'll play. I suggest 'pumped up kicks' - foster the people
  • Man....I must be old, out of it, or both, because not only do i not know what spotify is, but i also don't recognize half the music listed so far on this thread

I lean toward U2(Beautiful Day, Vertigo), Coldplay (Every Teardrop...Charlie Brown), Red Hot Chili Peppers (scar tissue), but i must confess i also have a few katy perry, usher, keisha, and flo rida on my play list.  Thanks to my kids for keeping me at least somewhat current.

I look forward to the EN playlist and increasing musical vocabulary!

  • great idea, Aaron!

subscribed to the playlist last night and now happy to contribute:

    wild ones - flo rida

    we found love - rihanna

    tacata - tacabro

    automatic - nicki minaj

    die young - ke$ha

    arena - b.o.b.

    hurts like heaven - coldplay

    some nights - fun

in the morning (TJR remix) - robbie rivera

don't wake me up - chris brown

little lion man - mumford & sons

    ******************

as you can tell, my formative music years were spent in spin classes!

  • okay, so here is the classical music running mix - all 160-250 BPM. If you need to hear full concertos, this is not for you!

Adams; Nixon In China: Act I Scene 1: News Has a Kind of Mystery (Nixon, Chou, Kissinger, Chorus)

Shostakovich; Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, Op. 99 : Burlesque: Allegro con brio – Presto

Brahms; Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77: III. Allegro giocoso, ma non troppo vivace

Mendelssohn; Octet for Strings in E-Flat Major, Op. 20: IV. Presto

Mendelssohn; Concerto in E Minor for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 64: III. Allegretto non troppo - Allegro molto Vivace

    Bach: Brandenburg Concerto #3 In G, BWV 1048 - 2. Allegro

Bruch: Violin Concerto #1 In G Minor, Op. 26 - 3. Finale: Allegro Energico

Mozart; Symphony No. 25 In G Minor, K. 183: I. Allegro Con Brio

    Mozart; Symphony No. 40 in G Minor, K. 550: I. Molto Allegro

Mozart: Symphony No. 41 in C Major, K. 551 "Jupiter": IV. Molto Allegro

  •  Steve - I think you have plenty of company under that rock.  Other than the time I used a playlist for an FTP test, I never listen to music while working out.  Drives me nut-so.  Only reminds me of the passage of time.

The voices in my head are company enough for me.

  •  Dropkick Murphys Live in Boston on St. Paddys Day

    Flogging Molly's

The Clash - any and all

    The Specials

    The Ramones

  • If you don't have Spotify, don't fret. I will find a way to share the mix to everyone.

@Jane, if you go to your playlist, then up to there is a share button and you can tweet the mix out. I just copied the Tweet and pasted here so others could access the link.
  • Alright - I was able to link to Jane's mix (thanks!) - but can't link to yours Aaron. Am I missing something?
  • @greg - I am going to shuffle the mix a bit - finding that the Mozart symphonies are not fitting in with the violin Concerti - but the Nixon in China is an awesome way to start!
  • I like to harken back to my "early" heavy metal days for training music. A few of my standards include:

    The Four Horsemen - Metallica
    Enter Sandman - Metallica
    Creeping Death - Metallica
    Blitzkrieg - Metallica
For Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica (anyone seeing a theme here?)
    Angry Again - Megadeth
Skin O' My Teeth - Megadeth
Man on the Silver Mountain - Rainbow
Over the Mountain - Ozzy Osbourne
You Got Another Thing Coming - Judas Priest
  • Alright - I put a quick little diddy together.  Warning - some songs have explicit lyrics.  Oh, an Aaron, finally got yours to work.  This is too kewl!  (am I old for using the work "kewl"?)

    spoti.fi/SnASx8

  •  @Roy-  not to mislead - I fully agree that music can make your workouts better, and that in turn can help your racing, and I need tunes to get me through my long indoor workouts (and any indoor workout in my book qualifies as long).  I don't do earbuds for a host of reasons, but I do have speakers set up in the garage, and they'll be on at 0500 on Tuesday for that FTP workout.

Variety helps me a lot.  Lately I've been on:

    Angelique Kidjo

    Cake

    The Black Keys

    Maroon 5

    Eminem

    The Black Eyed Peas

I regularly peruse the web for new ideas.

Looking at this list for later this week - haven't considered it much yet:

    http://runningmusicmix.com/180-mix.html

I like the idea of using music to help establish cadence, esp. for running.

Need to learn more about sharing playlists on spotify - will work on that later this week.

@Jane - classical - hadn't considered that before, but now I'm thinking that could be tomorrow morning.  Thanks for the list!

I was surprised to find these on Spotify.  Makes my life easy.  I'll whip up a list for the morning.   Interestingly, none of these are labeled, "Explicit"... (wonder if I'll miss that...)

Now I'm thinking some Rossini - perhaps some Italiana in Algeri  -  has that "Breaking Away"  mojo.

    You've expanded my thinking here...
