Simple enough.  Just wondering if we have an connections to get favorable pricing on those boots.  I hear there are some good prices to be had.  Thanks

  • They were offering pretty sweet deals at some of the Rev3 races. They usually announce any discounts on their twitter feed.

  • Just for reference this was the deal they were offering at Rev3.

  • I will ask John to reach out to them for a team discount...
  • Yeah, but do they really work or is this just another geeky fad like compression calf sleeves?
  • Tried them at Nationals. They were awesome! I'd love to have a chance to get a pair at a decent discount.
  • @Paul: I got the Normatecs after IMOO this year and used them for recovery after long training sessions and immediately after IMFL. I had a few other team members (John Molchin and Brian Pautsch) use them immediately after IMFL as well. We all felt that it aided in our recovery (and felt really good). I also looked at Recovery Boots but the Normatec seem to be better technology and quality.
  • At Brian ... i will have to do some research and see if there are any double blind studies. I don't even know what they do, but I'm very skeptical.
  • I've used them frequently over the past year and have found them helpful in recovery. A double blind study would be impossible. Maybe a comparison to static compression has been done. The effect is like a nice, hard massage.
  •  @Paul:  I did a bit of research before getting them.  The slowtwitch discussion was worthless as it was mostly sponsored athletes endorsing their respective products.  This was the only review I found that seemed credible.

  • There is black friday deal out there is the same as the Rev3 offer. I saw it on the ST thread about Xmas.... I mean.... a friend told me about it... I don't do ST... image
  • Dino- do you think you could get your, um, friend to send you a link to that Black Friday deal so you could drop it in here for us?
  • Looks like Attila and I have some friend in common - mhutto. That is exactly the link I was referring to. Nicely played Attila!
  • the "gently used" MVP systems are sold out.  PRO systems are available-1800

Thanks so much for your interest in the NormaTec Recovery System!

Just to give you a brief rundown: NormaTec was started by Laura Jacobs, MD, PhD who recognized the powerful potential of external, pneumatic compression. Not impressed with the results of existing compression pumps, Dr. Jacobs realized that the key component to the medicine and technology of compression is HOW we massage around the arms and legs. What was developed is a system that's not only portable, durable, and easy to use, but also one that massages in a pattern that is so clinically significant, it's patented. Called Sequential Pulsed Technology, NormaTec is the only system in the world to incorporate a patented massage pneumatic waveform.

Just three years ago, top professional and college teams and athletes began to utilize the NormaTec technology to aid in their recovery and performance. The results were simply outstanding. Today, daily users include top NCAA programs, the majority of NFL, NBA and NHL teams, the US Navy SEALs, and hundreds of the best athletes in the world. In addition, the best triathletes, cyclists and runners on the planet recover faster and perform better because of their NormaTec.

Our NormaTec Pro Recovery System, which retails for $5400 for the full set-up, is available right now at $1800 for gently used models. These systems were used at either the London Olympics on loan or as demo units at triathlon events this summer. They are in great shape, and we will of course honor the 2 year warranty from the date of purchase should any issue occur, but we're confident that they are as good as new!

It might sound like a good chunk of change, but if you spring for a $75/massage 2x a month like Coach P, this unit would pay for itself in just 10 months...it's going on my Xmas list!!!
  • @Patrick: Custom EN patches! That is so Pro.
  • How to get this approved by the boss - hmmmm (insert evil grin)

Not having ever tried these boots out, do they actually get as really deep into the tissue as a massage would?

  • Just got the used pros delivered today.  Sux i missed on the kewl patches...

As fas as deep...they sure squeeze the crap out of (and i mean t-i-g-h-t) your legs on the highest setting...

  • @Scott: The boots will not replicate a deep tissue massage in terms of breaking up knots/scar tissue or trigger point stuff. The boots oscillate up and down your legs and I would describe it as more of a flushing feeling afterwards. Maybe there is somewhere you can demo them at aside from Rev3 races.

@Jeff: I have only went up to the 6 setting out of 7. I am saving 7, I just like the idea of knowing there is one more (like Spinal Tap).
  • I spoke to the owner of the company over a week ago about the science behind these boots. We spoke for over an hour. His mother was the Physician who developed this product and she did not cut any corners. I've tried other systems that use sequential compression or persistaltic compression. Are they good??? Pretty good. My Normatec boots that I just received are truly in a league of their own in comparison. First of all I'll say they are NOT Peristaltic compression. They go through a patented wave cycle that feels so much better than either sequential or peristaltic. I wanted to take my recovery to the next level and after experiencing Normatec I'm sold. It's a great product that I believe is well worth the investment. Patricks's right, I know I'll save money by having a lot less Massages throughout the year. My motivation was high as my stress fracture this past year was a wake up call to take my recovery to the next level. I will be using them before runs and rides for 10 minutes as this truly helps with warm up as well, then 30-60 minutes after training while I take in my nutrition. They're also extremely quiet. My wife was impressed with that.

Please ask any questions as I've been studying the science behind these boots and other lymphatic pumps for some time.
  • Jordan Rapp just posted this on FB. A better deal than what we got.

  • Slowtwitch12 also gives the same discount as Rapp's. $1495 + free shipping.
  • So are the patches worth $100 image
