@Paul: I did a bit of research before getting them. The slowtwitch discussion was worthless as it was mostly sponsored athletes endorsing their respective products. This was the only review I found that seemed credible.

Not having ever tried these boots out, do they actually get as really deep into the tissue as a massage would?

As fas as deep...they sure squeeze the crap out of (and i mean t-i-g-h-t) your legs on the highest setting...
@Jeff: I have only went up to the 6 setting out of 7. I am saving 7, I just like the idea of knowing there is one more (like Spinal Tap).
