How To Hack Thanksgiving Week
Before i get started, let me remind all of you that this is just one of a few family holidays we have left…so don't freak out about a missed workout. Even if you don't like chilling with Aunt Edna or your crazy brother-in-law, it's good for karma that you do that. Can you still workout? Hell yeah…but just know where your coach's head is at.
Thursday will punch a hole in your week, as well the stress around getting to / from (or hosting!) the big day. So let' not complicate things..after all, there is a November Run Challenge you can do to just keep the fire burning daily if that's all you can muster!
Version One: Front Load Your Week
Eliminate Monday's day off, and bump Tues/Wed/Thurs forward a day. For the OS folks, this means getting both quality bikes in. Thursday is off, Friday is an easy run, Sat is the long run and Sunday is the Bike if you get back in time. If you are home by Sat AM you can do the weekend as planned. This is great if you'll be on the road through Sunday.
Version Two: Turkey Tweakage
So monday is off cuz you need it, then Tues/Wed as planned. Thursday is off, Friday is aneasy run with strides, Sat is long run and Sunday is the Bike if you get back in time. If you are home by Sat AM you can do the weekend as planned. This is great if you need the rest early.
Version Three: Turkey Trotters
If you have a 5k or 10k or in between, then you need to actually be ready to run…and yes, you should run at your best unless it's a family thing or something. In this case, follow the front load protocol in Version 1, but replace Wed with an easy short run. Thursday = Race, Fri=easy short run. Sat is the long run and Sunday is the Bike if you get back in time. If you are home by Sat AM you can do the weekend as planned.
Version Four: Racing on the Weekend
If your race is on the Weekend, then plan on your week as usual with Friday rest, then Race Sat and do the Bike on Sunday….or do Sunday Bike (Main Set only) on Sat AM and then Race Sunday!
Of course, whatever you decide, be sure to post pictures on Facebook (www.facebook.com/endurancenation) and here on the dashboard!!!
