giro air attack.
Thinking of switching from my Tardiz Lazer.
Like the idea of no tail to heave around. And ability to move head around without compromising aerodynamics. Lighter.
Supposed to be good air flow and head cooling.
Time penalty over an iron versus my current?

"Another great deal from Rudy Project this year with savings of 51% using code “51OFFDEC12? OR ‘HelmetsDEC12?. That will bring the cost of the Wingspan aero helmet to $151" http://www.e-rudy.com/
I am really interested in the Air Attack as well, but despite thinking that I had seen wind tunnel data for it in the past, I couldn't find anything when I just searched.
My head moves around a lot when I ride, specifically I find I drop my head unless I'm constantly reminding myself to try and 'turtle' or otherwise keep the tail on my back. I already ride a short tail helmet (the wingspan) but am very interested in the latest batch of no-tail helmets that seem to be growing rapidly in popularity amongst the peloton and pro-tri ranks.
As for time penalty over your current, how is your head position, stable? I think with a good fit to your back, stable head position and low yaw angles a traditional teardrop aero helmet will always be fastest, I don't know by how much, but it will be faster.
The no-tail comes into play with variable yaw angles, so for courses with shifting winds or lots of turns, or for someone who moves their head a lot, probably would be faster and cooler with the air attack.
Oh, and also, they aren't out yet.
Trevor.
I have Lazer Tardiz. Plenty cool. But I do move head around a lot.
So probably will get the Giro and use the face field. Saves not having to put on or deal with glasses.
Bicyclebuys.com seems to be taking orders. Anyone have problems with them?
Attila. I don't think my current helmet much different than the Rudy.
Thanks
I'm asking the same questions, and have been thinking about using this (see pic below) instead of my Spiuk in Hawaii. Rappstar's opinion on the snub tail helmets now in vogue is they have "a definite aerodynamic advantage," instead of a time penalty. Go figure.
Note this one isn't CSPC certified yet.
The other snub-tail that is actually available right now is the KASK Bambino:
But ventiliation looks to very minimal, oh, and it retails for a cool $499. Let that sink in, a 500 dollar helmet.
trevor Right. I looked at the Kask and had the same concerns. Price and ventilation. But looks cool.
dave. Poor ventilation on the CXR13?
Raelert and others used the giro at kona.
