OS vs OS: The Challenge
All right, enough of this mealy mouthed sniveling, let's get a real challenge going.
Jan OS vs Nov OS, using real numbers that really matter: compare starting FTP and VDOT to end-of-OS power and pace, team with the highest average %-age increase wins.
I need two volunteers: someone to make a Google Docs spreadsheet to document the brawl, and someone else to name the stakes.
My final word in the food fight to Jan OSers ... when you are struggling with the ramp-up in difficulty at the start of February, I will be enjoying my well-deserved transition weeks shredding the slopes of Snowmass, CO.

Al,
I'll volunteer to set up the spreadsheet if it can wait until the weekend. In all honestly I'll just borrow Dave Tallo's 'US vs Rest of World' challenge from the previous two years.

Boom! The gauntlet has been thrown down!
See, even at the subliminal level, everyone wants to be in the NOS!
Funny, and sad, I thought something similar when Al threw down the gauntlet. And then he had to rub Snowmass in our faces....That is too much Sir! Too much!
Don't know if I could sandbag my first test.....moving along now.....
You mean I actually have to back up some of this trash talk?
Shit.
Ball and chain? More like a badge of Mojo!
Presently, I've come down with the Flu. Wiping me out. Can't hold anything down. Should pass by late Feb, early March, tho.
And, I need to share about my plantar fasciitis. Hurts SOOOO bad that I'm on crutches for the next 3 months.
Dang, my bike just broke and I've lost my tennis shoes.....
Don't wait on me, just let me finish this Marlboro and Budweiser....
I know, I know, why bother? my numbers will be so low that it's not even worth playing......
just don't pay any attention to me, I'll be lucky to make it to my stationary bike in the laundry room.....
Okay so I sort of forgot about the spreadsheet this weekend and I scraped together this one quickly.
As per Dave Tallo's (Thanks Dave) previous OS challenge I propose the average percentage increase be the measure that is:
The score is measured by the percentage change in watts per team member - it's all about value-added. So, if I start the OS at 100 watts, and test again at 115, I contribute a 15% increase to my team (the cal-cu-mo-later on Excel will do the hard math). Team score is calculated as the average of all members' percentage increases. Make sense?
Below is the google doc again mostly copied from Dave's old challenge to add your names and starting FTP. Post in your tests as you go and I'll add in the % change calcualtion as we go so there is not a lot of div by zero's in the sheet.

Heh heh heh. I'm fat, and I have low scores. Nowhere to go but up.
