Up to here and out

Please pardon my rant.

I have finally completely unsubscribed from Endurance Planet podcasts.

Ben Greenfield is the poster boy for how a little knowledge is more dangerous than none at all, particularly if you take it as a license to pontificate.  I don't want to go into an extended rant, but let's just say he knows a lot of science-sounding words.

I used to like to listen to the "Week in Multisport" segments.  They went downhill (in my mind) when Brad Culp stepped in, but even he was ok...at least when they were fairly regular.  You got some news, even if theopinions didn't always seem that insightful.

But I've had it up to here finally with Tawnee Prazak.  There's easily 100 people in EN who know more about multisport than she does.  I hope she's a better model than she is interviewer and multisport commentator.  Ignorance is not bliss when someone else has to listen to it.  I just looked her up on the web.  Can you believe she gets $350/month for the  inexpensive version of her coaching service?

Rant over.  Sorry.  Had to get that off my back.

Now back to my usually relatively positive self.

  • I want to simultaneously say thank you and shame on you for bringing stuff like this to my attention. All I have to say is you (EN) are lucky that Rich and I are only "moderately hot" and not "stunning male models" or EN would TOTALLY cost a lot more. I am sure other professions deal with stuff like this all the time. image I just put my head down and keep working / creating / leading...
  • WJ - Thanks for the impetus to finally 'unsubscribe' from the BG podcast. I kept hoping to get one or two useful things....and kept hoping. He talks a good game, that is for sure.

  • Lost me at Brad Culp. That guy's a friggin moron...
  • Hey William - did you previously listen to the tri-talk podcasts? Reason I ask is because I've been listening to them (even though they are old, still some useful information), and the one I was listening to earlier mentioned a listener, named William Jenks, writing in with a correction. It was about effort vs speed in a study of swim performance and its downstream effect on the bike and run. Just curious if it was you.
  • Yup, the same.

I used to correspond with him from time to time. Nice guy, and I appreciated his good attempts to be scientific, though I occasionally quibbled with him. I definitely enjoyed those back in the day. Used to visit his forum too.
  • Well, I never subscribed to begin with since Ben Greenfield is a ST punching bag for the BS he sales. But more importantly, I never heard of Tawnee Prazak so I had to look her up and she is a fine-looking young lady. If I could subscribe to her IMAGES instead of her podcasts that would be nice, but my wife would kill me.
  • @Paul - Endurance Planet was owned/operated by someone else (Kevin Patrick, I think) for several years before it was sold to BG. It naturally "evolved" after he bought it.
