Garmin Pacing Recording

I posed this question in the OS run thread...but thought I would post it hear for a wider audience...........

Does anyone know how/why you can be running along and your garmin pace never shows above 7min/mi but at the end of the mile it might be an over 7min mile?....

Even when I go and look at the data/paceline in WKO download...I can run the pointer along the data line...and it will be 6:35,6:45,6:37,6:50 etc. etc. all along...but then the mile split is 7:00? how can that be?...

  • That's a little odd. Don't know what to make of it. It's possible that the display is showing LAP PACE instead of PACE but then the end result recorded by the device should be the average of those sub-7 numbers you can see in WKO instead of 7:00. Is there some sort of target pace you can display on the Garmin on some screen other than the virtual runner screen?
  •  So here is the WKO of the workout...look particularly at mile 1-4...run your pointer along the line and you will see the pace numbers I saw while running...then look at the mile pace for 1,2,3 individually......if you just were looking at my pace line data (what I observed while running)...you would think/believe the mile splits would be faster..yes or no?

The screen is set ot just pace..not avg or lap

  • I don't think anyone can see your workout, Joseph. Definitely I can not (don't have a trainingpeaks account). Your link also doesn't seem to be referring to a specific workout.
  • I can't see the file but what you describe is totally bizarre. Really it makes no sense. Sometimes you get a crazy GPS spike up or down that will mess up your lap pace overall, but that will always show up on the charts.
  •  Heres a screencast were I walk through the question & data...would appreciate any  thoughts...
