New Stages Power Meter

Maybe I'm late to the party, but I did a search of this forum regarding the new Stages or StageOne Power Meter and found nothing. I just learned of it today in a discussion with a guy at my local bike shop. Seems it could be a more affordable option for those looking for a crank-based power meter. Rule number one of Powermeters: NEVER EVER be a first generation user (also known as a Beta tester).

It may be a more affordable option, but I am going to let it mature a bit before I jump. If I jump.

Cool idea, but u could set up 2 wired pts for the cost of one. I understand the limits, but I'm just sayin.

I already have a wired PT with two receiver units I've used in training with no problems for years. (I may have been a PT Beta tester....) Would like to race with power too and use my disc wheel, so looking for a crank based unit. SRM & Quarq are likely outside budget realities, so may give this a shot.

 I you don't mind wired, you can get an SRM for under a thousand.  It is a great power meter.  Bulletproof.

I'm not bashing the StageOne. To be honest, I think it looks very cool and could hopefully force the price lower on all Powermeters... The risk is simply that the first gen of any electronic product comes with the twitchiness in the beta testing phase.
