Post your triathlon New Year's resolution(s)

Mine is pretty simple: KEEP A TRAINING LOG

Over the years I have started and abandoned more training logs than I care to admit: paper-based, spreadsheets, websites, everything. For some reason I have never been able to make it a habit. This all changes in 2013.

I already have a head start on it: link to my TrainingPeaks account.

Comments

  • More and better sleep.
  • Make a much better effort to become a better swimmer. And continue optimizing my schedule to be able to spend max time with my 2 year old boy (and wife).
  • When in doubt
    Do the workout
  • (1) Just keep getting in the workouts

    (2) Get to bed as early as life allows

    (3) Cut out most of the junk food

  • Esse quam videri

translates to: To be, rather than to seem.

Not necessarily a New Year's resolution but more of a way of living for me.
  • Do the work and earn the finish
  • 1. Stay with my shoulder exercises and return to swimming in Feb.
    2. High volume run focus with 1:35 1/2 marathon.
    3. See if I still have a sub 2:20 olympic in me.
    4. Crack 5:10 at GFT and or Muncie 70.3
    5. Sub 11 hrs at Ironman Sweden

Let's not be like the supermarket magazines which never follow up on predictions. We need to revisit these resolutions at the end of the year for accountability.
  • Eat less candy.....

Get back from this broken collar bone...,,

    Not crash in 2013.....
  • Take more pictures of cool stuff I see while out training.
    • Swim: Learn to love swimming and get in the pool consistently. Start swimming regularly with the local masters club.
    • Bike: Maintain the same type of consistency in hitting key workouts like I've been doing in the OS.
    • Run: Be consistent (notice a trend here?) with run volume and bump it up. I think this is my biggest limiter as a runner, which is silly seeing how many running opportunities (good weather, lots of roads and running partners) I have around me, but I seem to be lax about taking advantage of that.
  • Isn't so much of a New Year's resolution as it is a multi year quest... to qualify for Kona at IMLP 2013
