Pneumonia...?

Hi,

I'm pretty sure that there is a post somewhere on this topic but I can't seem to find it. I'm pretty new to EN and I enjoy the traing alot. I'm in the middle of my outseason but I havn't trained for almost 3 weeks now due to pneumonia. Now that I've recovered, I wonder how I should get back in traing again.

  • Mads, Look in the Wiki in the outseason part. Coach P put something in there that deals with time off and how to adjust. Besides looking for it you will find a lot of other cool stuff too.
  •  Mads,

Helpful hint on pneumonia: It kicks your behind.  When you try to go back to training, you will find that swimming is the hardest thing to start back up.  I had pneumonia in June and it took me 3 weeks to get on my bike (20 minutes slow on the trainer), and a month to run 3 miles.  but 2 months to swim and not have any issues.  DO NOT PUSH IT!!!  Take your time to let your lungs heal.  I know it is the hardest thing to do.  But taking two more weeks to relax and get better, that will save you from months of half assed recovery and more set backs.

BTW, because i was smart and took time off and went absolutely stir crazy, i was able to complete a HIM at the end of September (2.5 months after a bad case of Pneumonia).  But you have to recover and watch want you eat.  image

Also think about seeing a lung speciallist, not just your GP.
