Determining Joule 2.0 Memory Availability

Do any of you peeps who own a Joule 2.0 know how to determe, on the unit itself, how much internal memory is available from the 4MB total?

Looked at the manual and some forums but found nothing. The manual says each 1hr workout uses about 150k and I suppose I can connect it to my PC and open up file explorer to see the available memory but that is a pain in the neck. I just want a quick way to know how much available memory I still have to avoid getting a memory full message during a long workout or worse yet during a race.

Any thoughts?

  • I was surprised last week that my memory was full. Prior to last fall's firmware update I had been using a microSD and never had to think about memory space. Well last week I was forturnate to have been recording on my Garmin at the same time, 'cause the Joule was full and truncated my wko. If it indicated that on the fly, I never noticed.

Easy way to check is plug it into your PC and right-click Get Properties the Activities folder (should be here E:CycleOpsactivity). I think there were only about 25 files on there and it was full.
  • Thanks Steve. I always have my Garmin watch on as well so I guess that's a good backup plan.
  • Download it after each wko and clear the memory. Then no worries.
  • That is what I had to do when I had one Tom - what Carl recommends above. Each and everytime I would ride, I would load it onto the computer after and then delete it from the Joule. A pain, but always makes sure you have the room.
