For EN Newbies just starting the JOS
I don't know how many folk out there are new EN people, just starting the January Out Season (JOS), but a quick word to you!
It's surely not mandatory in any way, but one of the great benefits of being in the community is having a whole bunch of people doing the same workouts as you. There is some variation among the different levels of plan, but the basics are all the same as far as what kind of workout is scheduled for every day.
In the forums, we run support groups for each other: checking in on accountability, sometimes bragging a little, sometimes asking if we're the only ones who feel so tired (normal answer = no), or asking for help or critique. It's great to come on and post as much or little detail as you want about your workouts and encourage each other.
You'll generally see titles like "Week 1 bike" and "Week 1 run". There are enough of us that have to move things around a bit for scheduling reasons that it works better to do it this way than to start a daily thread. And it seems to work better to split up the bike and run threads than to have a single "Week X" thread, as well.
If you visit the JOS Week 1 Bike thread today (Jan 7), you'll see people have started to post their bike test numbers. Some will put them in their sig files as another form of accountability. It's all up to you. But I do encourage you to get involved in the weekly threads like this; it's a great way to keep motivated for the next 3 months!

Here's the JOS Week 1 run (which got started last week by someone with a scheduling issue, but put there because the first run is a test...just like the bike.: http://members.endurancenation.us/Training/TrainingForums/tabid/101/aft/10537/Default.aspx
