NEW Garmin Edge 510

This was news to me today, so I thought I would pass it along. It looks like the big changes are connectivity with cell phones for live tracking, automatic upload to the internet, weather warnings to the head unit, touch screen and customization for multiple bikes and types of riding.

Very interesting! I need to replace my powermeter after my old Joule 2 went AWOL at IM Lou ;-(

Was planning to use this years REI dividend for a 500, but this could change things. I like the 510's iphone integration and touchscreen, but not crazy about the larger size. I'll need to wait until these hit the stores and i can lay my hands on one before making a decision.

I sure like the idea of the tracker feature...but then having to have the cell phone and the USAT calling that a rules violation is a big bummer. Hope either USAT or Garmin figure that out over the next year or two.

I wish Garmin had taken the opportunity to combine the funtions/features of the Garmin GTU-10 into the 510 device. They already have a GPS tracker device that doesn't work through a cell phone, you just have to pay a yearly subscription fee. I don't mind that fee because it allows my wife, or anyone I send the link to, to track me, even if I forget my phone or if my phone isn't working. I think they missed an opportunity here.
