Running strides in OS Advanced plan

 Hiho there,

I just checked the plan for next week of my OS Advanced plan and have some questions about the strides running session on tuesday.

The plan tells me to do 35' @ EP + 3x20 strides with a total duration for this session of 40 minutes.

As mentioned in the QuickStart-Guide each stride is about 30sec in duration and of course you will need to rest a little after each stride so lets say it takes you 20 minutes to perform 20 strides correct?

If I now sould do 3 sets of 20 strides this will take me 1 hour (!!) ... now I add the 35min of EP in front then I'm already in outer space and there's still the 15min WarmUp missing

I'm pretty sure I just get something wrong here ... maybe it should mean I have to do 3 strides of 20sec duration rather than doing 20 strides?

  • I do a 1 mile warm up then my strides.
Strides are exactly that striding out, going fast without breaking good form.
I like personally to count my left foot and try and have it strike 35x in 30 seconds. Note I have been doing this consistently for 3 years now and my usual strike per minute is 90-95. It also changed my running form for the best.

After my wu and strides are done I then begin the wko.
  •  3x Strides of 20 Steps (about 30 seconds)...not 3x20 Strides

  • THX for the super-quick answer!!
  • OMG!!! Stefan, doing 3 sets of 20 strides would have killed me after that bike workout.
  • I guess it depends on how you read it, now go post a picture of yourself.
  • I am glad to see you take these seriously. We do a lot of running at 5K pace or slower, but not a lot of faster running. It is hard to run faster if you can't run fast. I also believe strides lower risk of injury when faster running is introduced. Otherwise... listen to the guys above.
  •  Yeah posting a picture would be nice ... I tried to upload one in several sizes down to 75x75 but it just doesn't work but I got no error message image
