trainer road free ride mode?

New to trainer road.    is there a way to just ride?     gives NP, etc.      Like computrainer 3d mode.    I am using a computrainer.        I don't see a way to ride outside of the workouts.

  • Use a Free Ride 30, 60, 90, etc workout file. Here's an example I did on Thursday when I wanted to mess with the prescribed workout a little. Patrick - look away. I don't know how it plays with a computrainer though.

  • Thanks.   That is what I was looking for.

Though I don't understand why they don't have a free ride mode.

  • Robin,

I think it needs a certain duration for the ride. Just pick the longest free ride (3 hours??) and ride till your done.

If you really want to know, Nate and Reid from TR are answering questions in another thread about EN / TR in the OS. (That's a lot of acronyms!)
  • I think they don't have a "Just ride and record" mode because of the software's architecture but that's just a guess. Choosing a workout with the app preloads your personal profile and sets up the file to have your FTP designated as well as loading up your HR and power zones. That stuff might all be calculated later along with determining your Bests and whether you set any new marks while saving the workout. To start receiving the ANT+ data stream for a workout might also require setting up a file first, although I've noticed that it will detect and pair with your sensors before you choose a file.
  • Robin , While using TR with CT you can toggle back and forth between ERG mode (TR adjusts the resistance on the CT to match the workout automatically) and slope mode (where you control the resistance/power yourself via shifting/cadence) by using the F2 button on your CT controller..... You can also adjust the resistance via the +/- buttons on your CT controller in BOTH erg and slope mode.....Freeride is OK but , This gives you quite a bit of variablitly within a workout on the fly... Very cool...
  •  Ok thanks all.

the CT software crapped out on our windows 7 and 8.    Those blankers.

    so now back in business.
