Lifehacker: Endurance Nation Version
Here's a thread to lay out your tips, tricks, and life tweaks, as they apply to tri, a la lifehacker.com. Judging from the uptake on the apps and professional advice threads, I know there are some insanely creative, efficient and effective people here, and I'm sure some of it is channeling towards multisport.
Mine for the day: Core work while tooth brushing. My Oral B has a 2 minute timer, so for 2 x 2 = 4 minutes a day, I'm simultaneously doing some kind of core work while achieving superior dental health. Currently its one-leg bent-knee balancing for 1 minute, engaging glutes and hip flexors, then switch to the other leg. Last month it was pelvic floor engagement.

I used to be much busier, so my time was filled with such hacks. Now, I look for ways to,fill, not save time. But I still work on my balance and leg strength while undressing/dressing at the gym or elsewhere. I stand on one foot and put on my sock, shoe, and then tie shoe all without wavering or putting my foot or hand out for balance. Or at least that's the goal. I feel smug while all the others around me are sitting on a stool to put shoes/socks on.
@ Dave - Great idea for a thread!
@ Carrie - Wow...that's dedication!!
I work in a cubilcle and switched from a chair to an exercise ball about a year ago. It makes it easy to work in a little core work throughout the day, especially on long telecons. Unfortunately, because of a recent accident i've had to switch back to a chair, but i hope to be back on the ball in a couple more weeks.
@Dave, @Al – Ha Ha, I do the same things while brushing and changing in/out of shoes! For extra fun while brushing on one foot, close your eyes. Try anything on 1 foot normally done on 2; shower, standing in line. All good for balance I figure.
As rest is the most compromised of my training disciplines, I try to catch up on sleep during meetings and conference calls.
If you do this with an aero helmet on: WIN // THREAD CLOSED.
