Replacing the wednesday run session

Stefan Reiter What do think can replace tomorrows run session by another bike FTP ride? I don't believe that I can do any running session due to weather conditions image

  • That would make 3 FTP sessions in a row - I would try to run in a gym or elsewhere if you can, but would not add more FTP. It will likely impact Thursday's bike, and then may even trickle down to Saturday's ride etc, not something you would want. I'd really try to find an indoor place to run, pay the fee or just ask your local gym if you can try it out...
  • Well that's something I could try ... need to check the gyms around here image
  • If you must replace the Wed run with a bike, look at doing an ABP ride...lots of 85% time.

  •  I don't know what ABP is either, but shoot -- you live in Austria. Replace your run with some downhill skiing!!!!!!!!!

  • ABP = Always Be Pushing = 85%
  • Skiing is nice but not possible during the week when you have a full time job because the lifts are closing at 4pm.
Anyway I will see how the situation on the walkways looks like tomorrow and if it's not possible to run (especially run FAST) than I'll replace it with a ABP (thx Steve for the explanation) session on the bike in the evening image
  • Agree with William, but he is a WSM (wickedly smart member)
  • Or do your Thursday VO2 ride today and run tomorrow. If a run tomorrow isn't possible then you can do a 90' ABP. I really believe the ABP ought to be 75'-90' to work you over, but doing that on the heels of an FTP ride won't set you up for a good VO2 ride tomorrow. On the other hand, you could bang out the VO2 today then tomorrow do a big ABP and you've probably got a nice little extra productive TSS on your biking legs!!
  • Sounds like you might need a consistent indoor option regardless...so might be worth sorting that out now for the rest of the winter. When do we get to see pictures of your mountains??? image
  • Well ... I don't know who did it but someone broke the treadmill in our companies gym image The damn thing now just switches to "Safety" mode as soon as you what to go faster than about 9km/h image
Normally running outdoors during wintertime isn't a big deal as long as we don't get a real huge amount of snow within a short period of time (like we do NOW)

@Matt - I really like your idea as it would also give me a lot of flexibility and the snowfall should also stop in the next 10-15 hours (hopefully)
