Ear Buds or Ear Phones

As I'm looking to purchase audible books and listen to them on my phone, I was wondering which set up would be better the Buds / Phones?

If you use them which do you like and why and can you recommend one brand over another?

Thx D

  • I have yurbuds (which I believe EN has a discount with). basically, it's just some funny little anatomically-accurate (for the ear canal) 'boots' over standard ipod earphones. They feel like they're crammed into my ears, but they don't fall out - as advertised. Good sound and shuts out a lot of the background.

I wish I could just buy the 'boots', to put on my multiple pair of existing ipod earphones, but it doesn't appear to be an available option from them.
  • Hi David,

I’ve been using the Jaybird Freedom for several months and am really satisfied.

    Three things I like:

1 – They are Bluetooth so there are no cords.  I can make and receive calls with them from my iPhone and people can acutally hear me. This was the #1 future I was looking for as the Lifeproof (although worth its weight in gold many times over) case makes conversations difficult.

2 – They stay put.  Really.  And there is an over-the-ear clip on if for some reason they don’t but I’ve never used them.

3 – They purposefully let in ambient noise for safety. It’s just about the perfect amount for me.

One drawback is the battery life is a little short.  They are advertised at 6 hours. I find this to be a bit ambitious and seem to be charging them earlier rather than later.  I've just made a habit of plugging them in at night along with my phone.

Looking forward to seeing what you decide on and how they work for you!

  • Jenn, I saw the Jaybird ear phones at the electronic store in the airport last week. I looked at some others but your recommendation and the USAT approval sold me so thx I'm in.
